What about a Tiddalik the frog type pathtag? Could do the aboriginal dot painting fill for the frog?

Dot style art (which I did think of) is troublesome.
A pathtag is effectively an outline which is then filled. i.e. Between each color there must be a line of base metal. Think of a kids colouring in book. Black outlines that you then fill in.
As pathtags are die struck in metal, the outlines need to be made into a die. There is a minimum thickness the die will support. There is no hard and fast rule for how thick this is, it depends on who does the blueprint.
Suffice to say that for a bunch of small dots as you would expect to see on a dot art painting, the outline of each dot would be relatively thick and detract from the design.
I like the idea, but I don't think it works.

It might if the 'dots' were raised and in the metal the tag was made of and the recess behind filling in around the 'dots'.
Maybe....

The you get single color dots. ala the GCA pathtag.
Multiple coloured dots are too small to fill.

Below is an example of a very small dot. It is evidently possible but the background metal becomes the dominant colour.

Have you seen trippys idea?caughtatwork wrote:The you get single color dots. ala the GCA pathtag.

The China factory can do amazing detail, I have this one in my collection.
Works much better with silver though.
(Have you noticed during blueprinting they now have PMS colours? *thumbs up* Doesn't show on the pathtags profile page though..)

With some modification this could work very well. But don't ask me to modify it coz I don't hold any qualifications in that skill set.

The strict answer is no.bubbles_baby123 wrote:Quick question.

The practical answer is are you willing to archive them when they go missing?
A better answer is are you OK with 100 identical plastic frogs being distributed from a bucket in front of your house or are you looking to capture a different experience for each frog you release?
With the increase in interest from 1st to 2nd to now, 3rd year, not every cache released will get a pathtag. I am not made of money and simply cannot afford $300 or $400 for tags, plus another couple of hundred for postage. I know this is not your intent, just putting it out there.

I was planning to make about 20 or so frogs, to release all over the place
