Thought you folks would appreciate this story, all over the news today here -

A couple of climbers got stuck on Mt Hood in Oregon, and dug themselves a snow cave - right on top of a geocache. The contents included the cache's coordinates, so they were able to phone in their location and get rescued.

They promised to take locator beacons next time they went climbing ;-)

Then they loaded their Jeep Cherokee to drive off the mountain.
How odd, that they should name the type of car, or do Jeep have some affiliation with the paper?

Strange that it's the only cache in Jeremy's "Caches in the News" bookmark list. There was that one in Sydney where someone found a child porn stash, and you'd think there'd be any number of bomb scare ones in the US... :P

At first I thought "what are the odds of that?! digging a snowcave right on top of a geocache - that is REAL needle in a haystack stuff - odds of about a billion to one!"

But they didn't - they were out and about the next day when they came across it. Still amazing given that caches are supposed to be hidden, but the odds were a little better!

Still a good story. :D
