Geocaching Australia

Was just sitting here doing some "Geothinking" and was wondering how I would find out:

1. Who's the Cache finding record holder in Oz?

2. Who's hidden the most in Oz?

3. Who's the finding record holder in the world?

4. Who's hidden the most caches in the world?

Being a relative newcomer to the game I was sure one of the seasoned veterans might point me in the right direction.

there used to be a site showing everyones position. Unfortunately that site closed a couple of years ago. Here in Western Australia TLC has a page with WA stats - I'll look for the link.

I have seen the Team Landcruiser webpage but was trying to look for a worldwide and Australian list out of interest

The Aussie leader for finds will be maccamob

Maccamob have by far the most finds of any Oz Geocacher - 1840 at last count, they have also hidden 116

The record for the most number of caches found in one day is currently held by Rabbitto, who took the record from Facitman and I on 12 March 2005 by finding 56 . we had previously beaten TeamKittens' record of 43 (set on 1 January 2005) by finding 44 on 8 February 2005

As Team Pathfinder have stated Team Landcruiser compile a WA list. I suppose I was looking at something like that for total Australia and worldwide.

I was interested in comparing the Australian & world "Title Holders" and seeing how long it has taken to them to get there against my "small" total.

However, I am not one to just race out and find a cache for the sake of getting the numbers up, rather enjoy the game(sport) for getting me out house/office and enjoying the experience.

The Two Dogs would be most prolific cache placers with 127.
There are overseas cachers with tallys that I only dream about, Last time I looked there was a 6000plus cacher.. but that was about 12months ago

Not old, that ino seems to be still current, the boys must still have the feed hooked up... just the link I was searching for MIX

For the worlds top 1000 cachers (based on finds + hides) go to http://zinnware.com/HighAdv/Geocaching/ ... _found.php.

There are at least 8 Australians on the list.

To scrape into the list at the moment, you need a total Hide + Find count of 715. Of course, by the time you get to that amount, the number will have increased, but its a good goal to aim for if you're anywhere close at all.

Its got the old tabs on it but and is not linked to from 'other' Stats page. Maybe it could be reintegrated

Has anyone graphed Maccamobs finds over time. I seem to remember it wasn't that long ago they made there 1000th find.

Buxley's site http://www.brillig.com/geocaching/statistics.shtml has lots of international stats and some links to other statistic sites. He has been around since 'the early days' but I'm not sure whethe he still has access to current data.
