Geo-yakking at Nagambie Lakes, 6-8 Dec 2013

I live in Melbourne, but want to have a go at finding AHomburg's caches by kayak at Nagambie Lakes on the weekend of 6-8 December. See for example, Visit Nagambie Lakes - Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike.

I didn't want to camp too far away. A previous finder pointed out a spit of land on the lake that looked like a great camping spot. In a fit of inspiration, I used Google to find the leaseholder of that land, and it turns out to be the owner of Hide and Seek Winery. Now how good is that for an appropriate name??!! The spit of land is adjacent to the cache I linked to above.

I contacted the owner and he has agreed to allow up to about a dozen people onto the property to camp. They have a separate entrance at S 36 43.805 E 145 09.503 to reach the spot, but I will put up a GC logo sign there.

We must bring portable toilets (I have one, but it won't go far) and buy some wine from the winery, which is adjacent.

Would you like to join me and a few others who have already indicated their interest? Here is a way to get to the series easily by flotilla. I will arrive Friday afternoon and we should decamp on Sunday arvo. You may decide to only camp for one evening or even just come for a day, that is fine.

This is not an official GC event, and it is not an open invitation. I need to control access and numbers through the private property. If you would like to come along, please respond here, and maybe send an email to me at rlubensky [at] gmail [dot] com.

I would love to come, but I think the late night Friday and full day I can't get out of on Sunday are going to make the logistics too hard. :(
