I reckon, if you tried, for 24 hours straight, you could get well over 100 around Sydney, maybe 200. But WHY?

Wow a single county with 2000 caches in the vicinity, that sure would help you rack up a lot in no time...

I wonder what the Australian record would be?

Dont Know about in 24 hours, but I would suggest with careful planning and routes laid out, you could easily hit 100 +.

Team Geocoopers & I hit between 35 & 40 in one day with close on 1000 kms of travel on our cache trip thru VIC last year.
Can't remember the exact amount but was over 35, and I think the 3 day trip (caching daylight only) grossed about 75 ish ?

Must dig out the tracklogs to have a look exactly what we did find.

The best day's tally in Australia that I'm aware of is 21, by a well-known Sydney cacher on a visit to Adelaide a while back. <br>
Amazed at those US record statistics - a cache about every 1.2km or 6 minutes! And that was after eliminating hundreds more from their hit list. Caches must be under almost every tree over there. Florida, where the record was set, has 4500 caches (Australia 3500) but that is dwarfed by California, where there are 14,500. Sounds like many are fairly easy though, after a visiting American cacher wrote in a log for a 1½/1 multi-cache out here recently "Had a good time finding the clues and figuring out the coords needed. We need more caches like this back in the USA."

Why indeed. Hopefully the stunt driving implied in the article takes them out of the gene pool before anyone else.

Last month I did 23 in one day and my feet have not been the same since. This was with only 1 DNF that was later confirmed as not being there.

If you planned out a trip for an area with quite a few caches in it you could easily achieve upwards of 30.

It's easy when you know where they are but if they are all new and you get no assistance from anyone else it could be another matter.

Don't challenge Macamob though as they will always win.

Our best for one day is only a lowly 15, and that's well off the pace. When it comes to speed, we are geo-tortoises, not geo-hares. We only get there in the end because we have the time to keep plodding on ...

When we did Rabbitto's 13th Cache, we got the first 12 caches in 4.5 hours (I think the first five came in the first hour, then the others were slower, as they were less suburban). Planning out a route beforehand definitely makes it easier to cache quickly! We ended up with a total of 19 that day, which is our best - usually don't try for quantity though, as it means you don't get to spend time enjoying the locations you're getting to. And it sounds like it's a feat that's definitely much easier to try for in cache-dense America

Heheheh my record is a paltry SEVEN....and that was when I was visiting Melbourne. I planned a 10 cache day in the ACT...but then I only started at noon, had late lunch at Macdonalds and ended up with 3...hehehehe

When I visited Sacramento, California in January of this year, I noted that there were 32 caches within 5km of my hotel! I haven't checked out the Orlando situation yet. I just hope the training doesn't get cancelled.
