Deliberately incorrect coordinates

There is a cacher who has started placing caches with deliberately wrong coordinates, they are both in high muggle area with security cameras.

I think it is unacceptable, and I thought that the guidelines require actual coordinates, but one of these caches states in the cache notes, that the coordinates are not at the cache, so I guess it got past the reviewer.

What do you think?

Log a Needs Archived and the reason.
Traditional caches should be at the co-ords.

If you feel that this might put you in the firing line, refer it to the reviewer who is the one who posted the "Published" log.

Yep, if it's listed as a traditional cache, then it needs to be at the coords, to the best of the placer's ability.

(That's if it's listed on gc, of course; if it's listed here, the cache can be in another country if you like...)

Being able to use a GPSr to find the cache is rather the point of the whole game.

The OP mentioned a reviewer, so I made an assumption.

OK, I was curious about the guidelines and what people thought, I don't really want to have this cache archived, but was wondering how to get across to the hider that he should post the right coordinates as he seems to think this is an OK practice.

The reviewer will probably disable them until they're fixed, and make a note that future caches from this hider will need to be monitored a little more closely.

It's not a big deal, but it should make it clear to the hider that they're not in the spirit of the game and that lying doesn't pay.

Interestingly the cache description appears to have been changed after it was published.

That seems to be common when people want to play these games, and have reported one or two before, such as an event that after publishing became a get together to do a cache run (against the gc guidelines). Telling the reviewer about the shenanigans like this is probably the best move, they can approach the hider and tell them why it isn't in the spirit of the game (and archive the listing if necessary).

Yes, it was.

Not the first time by this cacher - some previous caches placed have also been well out the zone.

Back in the day the zone was 10m!

:) I have a cache that is not at the listed coordinates.
Do I feel lucky? Well do ya Punk? :)

After some discussion with theUmp we settled on it being a Multi.
