I have noticed that 2 of my caches are coming up with a line through the name, as they where disabled or archived;

eg; http://geocaching.com.au/cache/gc1gwmy


These caches haven't been logged as such, what is happening?

We make some assumptions if we don't get the cache details in our feed

Usually if some caches get auto-archived it means we may have an issue with our feed for that state, I'll look in to it now.

The QLD caches appear to have had a big tidy up of late!

I've adjusted the feed and it should all sort itself out over the next week.

A heap (well all 12) of my Canada/USA finds from two years ago always show up as archived even though most of them aren't. I've done additional imports but it hasn't made a difference.
No biggie, just looks odd whenever I see my northernmost cache and cache furthest from home appear to be archived when they aren't.

Same thing, as GCA doesn't get regular overseas feeds it assumes that the cache is archived.

With over 1000 finds now on this trip by the time I get home nearly 50% of my finds will be shown as archived hahaha

Not if you upload your my finds each week.

Some of them archive nearly instantly... and once they archive even uploading them again doesnt return them to active it seems

Using the manual import function, the status will not be changed UNLESS you have an "unarchived" log being loaded.

The reasoning is simple. If you import a log from a long time ago and the status of the cache is available, how do we know whether the status is up to date? If your import is dated February 2011 and the cache is listed as archived, do we unarchive it based on your old cache data or leave it archived? i.e. We don' know what the status is and we're just as likely to get it right as wrong, so we decided not to update the status unless there is a log.

In terms of O/S caches, they don't (or shouldn't) archive "nearly instantly". The overseas archive function is a manual one, run every now and then as part of the database tidy process. There are currently > 1,000 O/S listed caches that are still available in the DB. The function hasn't been run for ages, so I can't see how your O/S find archive "nearly instantly". It possible you imported and then we ran the manual archiver, so you may have been a victim of circumstance rather than a plot against you.

Unfortunately, the way in which the magic of the feed works, we can't be 100%. I'll look into a function that will allow you to unarchive a cache based on a clickable link from the cache page.

No biggy C@W I dont mind if the caches show up here as archived as my GSAK has them correct and it is only the % Caches Found Now Archived GCA stat that is affected.

As can be seen here, http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/Zalgariath/finds random caches I have recently found come up as archived when to my knowledge only one of them should be.

No worries, I wasnt having a gripe, just pointing out some oddness

http://geocaching.com.au/cache/gc13zb7 Wobbly Bridge as an example, was archived at GCA before you logged it. i.e. Someone has previously imported the cache into the database.

Argh I see!!! That would explain it. If the cache was already on the GCA DB it would already be archived Cheers!
