puzzle cache query

I attempting to work out a puzzle cache - GZ are fake co-ords and I need to solve the puzzle to get the actual co-ords.

With that in mind, my question is how far from the posted GZ can a puzzle cache be located? Does it have to be within 10 km of the posted GZ, or can it be any distance?

GC? It's supposed to be "a couple of km" for any relatively new listings which does help the solver if they can brute force the degrees (to an extent). For older listings, they could be hundreds of km.
GCA? No rule.

Thanks - it is a GC, so if it is within a couple of km it gives me something to work with on the numbers. :)

This is from a workshop at the Murray Bridge Mega on solving puzzles: http://geocachingsa.com.au/wp-content/u ... olving.pdf

Lots of useful tips for puzzle solving. And it says the 3km rule for GC puzzles came in mid-2008.

sweet - 3km makes it a lot narrower when trying to figure out where I went wrong :-)

The geocachingnsw link comes from a presentation given a few years back by then President Darren (The Spindoctors).

Glad it is finding a good use around the wider community, and I heard it was mentioned at the puzzle solving presentation at the SA Mega.
