There is no restriction applied to how many bugs may be picked up at a time, its entirely up to you how many you want to help. If a particular bug takes your fancy feel free to give it an advantage.

The web page link is now working, and there are just 4 TB's left to be released in the Townsville area out of the 29 taking part in the race. Please do your bit and help them on their way.

Townsville is a bit out of the way for most cachers. Don't expect them to move too quickly.

We might just pick up 25 TBs and shoot them down to Brisvegas in about two weeks time. Or out to western Qld

BTW Townsville has a nice assortment of caches for those who are travelling up this way. Bob has picked some good caches to place them in IMO......

Thanks in advance for any help Australian cachers are able to give to our bugs in the race. We chose Australia as a start point because Bob was conveniently going there to visit his daughter, and it's almost entirely round the other side of the globe. Somebody who visits any of the Townsville area caches will have a chance to seriously increase their TB stats!

no, we are not hibernating - it's just a big country and as crew_153 and agsmky already said, the bugs have been placed in a small population centre (about 100,000 from memory) a long way from anywhere. here's a comparison map for interest. on this basis, the bugs are somewhere in deepest russia!



the location of the first bug, townsville's first, has not been found in six months. the location of other bugs, saunder's seabreeze, gets about one log every two months or so. at this rate it will take over a year for all the bugs to move.

we think your best chance of reviving the competition is to get someone to collect the bugs and post them to a populated area where caches are visited once a fortnight or so.

You are taking about North Queensland. I can count the number of people that are caching on one hand. If you wanted then to get away a bit more quicker (instead of sitting in a cache for 6 months) then they should have been released in Brisbane or Sydney

Looks like someone will have to grab a bunch and send them south maybe to the Queensland Geocaching Winter Picnic where it counts as 25 points

The problem with some races is that people expect them to be going a hundred kilometres an hour from one cache to another. A race where they start very slowly is still a race and IMO is a great twist to the event. Be patient and enjoy the suspense of the wait
