GSAK Offline geocache logging

Question for all you GSAK Ninja's!

I am currently exploring using GSAK for our geocaching adventures.
So far so good.

One question relates to the logging of caches,
When you double click on the area in-between the little man and the 'lg' field on a cache in your list, you are presented with, a 'Notes' dialogue box. One has the User Notes and the Log Section.

This is different compare to:
Geocaching.com access --> Publish logs running a filter and double clicking on the cache you want to log.
The log you enter here is the one that will be published to geocaching.com.
Ive had a look at Kai Teams's macro here which i don't believe is quite what I'm after,
http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=12105&st=0&

Long story short, how when i double click or press a button on the main screen can i be taken straight to this geocaching.com logging screen?

Maybe I'm missing something simple?

This question is in relation to the following thread:

Thanks in Advance!

I don't understand your question. Offline Logging and the geocaching.com logging screen are mutually exclusive.
(You can't access the GC.com logging screen when you are offline.)

What exactly are you trying to do?

If it helps, here's my process.
  • Whilst out caching, mark each cache as found in GPS
  • Each night import Geocache visits file from GPS. (Publish logs>right click>Fetch from GPSR)
  • Produce and edit logs offline. (Publish Logs>Edit>Next> Next etc)
  • Repeat from top of list as many times as necessary.
  • When internet available (nightly for me) Publish logs. (Publish Logs>Publish button)

Are these steps in GSAK? Where is "Publish logs" ? I don't think I have it.

Thanks Ian and Penny,

I didn't head over to the GSAK Forums as I thought I might just be missing something.
So, For all intents and purposes ill write a detailed explanation that is posted here and i will post it over at GSAK.

When we are on the road from now on we will be trailing using GSAK for our adventures,
One feature that we thought would be useful is this:

We have a list of caches that we will attack like this:

Image

Double clicking on the cache (Or pressing a "log" button that could be a button on the toolbar) would then present you with cache information, minus the google map (As we will be offline) and ask for your Log like this:

Image

After you have entered your log you can close it and proceed to the next cache etc….
So You can log the cache on the spot or at a better time you can sit down and write a full log. By double clicking on the cache, you are simply just presented with the screen above.

So lets say after a week of being on the road and you have checked and written your logs in detail you now wish to upload them, What you would do from here is, go to the Geocaching.com --> Publish Logs and have a list here of any cache that has a log agents it.

Image

From here you will be able to log all these caches at once.
Something else that might be good to have is a Upload Pictures button on the individual Log Page.
This aim of this is to be able to do the logging out in the field as we believe that this would work really well for us.
I understand that people log them to the site there and then, I just don't think that would work that well for us.

I could be Talking nonsense here, but its just a thought were having.
Just my 2c

What sort of GPS are you using? This is the very crux of the methodology. Hopefully you have one that can track your finds as you each cache.

PS: there are some very clever macro writers on the GSAK forum. Maybe someone can write a macro that exactly suits your needs.

Dear PacketStorm4,

Next time you are posting images from GSAK, dont include a screen shot that shows the hint field! *spoilers*

Cheers

Thinking further: you could try this macro, and assign it to a button on the toolbar.

When you go to publish your logs, use %log in the publish log template.

I'm sure that the 60Cx has the facility to mark caches as found, so you can import your finds directly into the publish logs screen and edit them there.
