OT: Any students in the audience tonight?
Do we have any full time or part-time students sharing the forum?
I have just started a part-time Masters in Inclusive Education and I'm finding it so hard to get assessments completed and submitted. Like even the dishes and washing look like fun things to go and do.
Needless to say I am putting in about 15 hours a week into reading and assessment writing and am still falling behind. two Assessments due tomorrow.
Anyhow, just curious. Better get back to it I suppose?
Bronze.

I struggle too, I'm a full time student, doing a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) 3 subjects, and a Post Grad Certificate of Education (Special Ed) 1 subject. Next sem i'll have 1 or 2 Psych subjects and will do 1 or two special ed subjects to make 3 for the sem.
I'm easily distracted but generally do pretty well - I've had 100% for two assignments this sem - one was a 2500 word essay (special ed) - which I am still floored about. I put all my effort into assignments and then cram like all get out for the exams. I average Distinctions and High Distinctions for overall final marks. My biggest distraction is helping other students out, I put a lot of time into that, and keep forgetting to do my own work... I have one 3000 word report to write before 12th June. But I want it done before LWE.
I use text book websites heavily for revision and if I don't have an exam, the text book is only getting read enough to answer the assignments. No time to read anything that isn't being examined in one form or another.
I have a statistics subject this semester and I need to put aside the cram mentality for that one - but the other three will do just fine with the last week cram. Stats is up first (18th june), then special ed (22nd) and my final exam (abnormal psych) is the 28th of june, and we head O/S on the 30th - so no time to prepare for that either.
I hit the ground running and start into assignments from day 1 of receiving them and then leave all the 'study' to the last minute. Most of my subjects have exams.
Works for me, but probably not for others.

Studying externally is always a struggle.
I am two subjects short of a MTax from UNSW. I generally leave things to the last moment because as I am also self employed, any time that I take out is time not invoiced!
Fortunately due to the fact that I am a total dork and an information junkie, I enjoy studying taxation law and I can usully find a set of cases to review for my term paper where the score is Taxpayer 1 - Commissioner 0 !! Which is my favourite result!!

I hear ya Sam. Glad you have found a system that works for you. I'm still finding my ground I think.
A good result TFN. I would imagine a lot of the tax reading could be, well... rather taxing. Are they case study based of very much section XIV subsection X clause 8.1.1 type of texts. The later I couldn't do. Case studies I could handle I could handle I think.
Well - back to it.

I finished my correspondence studies a couple of years ago, but I just thought i'd add that any students that use Microsoft products may be interested in this:

Well I hope you are not reading this because you are meant to be "back to it"..Bronze wrote:Are they case study based of very much section XIV subsection X clause 8.1.1 type of texts. The later I couldn't do. Case studies I could handle I could handle I think.

No it all pure law - legislation, explanatory memoranda, regs, cases, rulings, determinations. Fortunately a large bulk of our tax law is written in reaction to situations so there is usually a bit of history about what sort of mischief the government/ATO/courts was trying to stamp out when the particular law was enacted or ruled upon. I like to read about mischief.
I deal with the real life case studies in my office every day!!
