Ozi name search file

Post by Gunn Parker » 30 January 04 12:59 pm

Hi All
I plan on being in Sydney in may and plan getting in a bit of caching while there, I will be staying near the Kincumber area and hoped someone could give me a name search file for Ozi of Sydney Suburbs or street names or the co-ords for Kincumber.
Thanks
Andrew

Mapsource gives S33 28.057 E151 22.901 as the co-ords.

Ben.

There are a bunch of Ozi namesearch files available somewhere on 'the internet' I'll try and narrow it down for you..

Anybody knows what grid system the streets are stored ?? I've dumped them into my Ozi and they are a little off.

I am using WGS84 on my scanned maps.

Thanks.

Try AUSGEO 66 or or something like that... the street directorys are still produced using that datum... Until next year when they should be on 94

All Ozi waypoint and name files use WGS84 datum. (It's in the help file somewhere)

Thanks. I've checked the NameFile and it is using WGS84. I might need to re-calibrate my maps.

As swampy says, if you got it from a street directory then it is probably AGD 66. "AMG" (Australian Map Grid) is AGD 66/UTM. If you scanned it from some other map, the map should tell you the datum and projection somewhere. Any older Australian map (well OK, even recent maps) is bound to be AGD 66, although all new maps from Geoscience Australia use GDA 94.

We're talking about the name search, not maps.
