CacheMonkey no longer works?
I'm using CacheMonkey 1.4, and as of this morning (23rd April) the cache names and co-ords are not appearing in the list, although it says it downloads the caches OK. I redownloaded the program just to make sure, still the same thing.
Anyone else having this problem?

Same here - I just tried to download all the VIC caches and all I finished up with was blank 'Name', By, Code and Short Name columns, the Coord columns are all zeros, and the Distance and Bearing columns show 14, 497.468 and 229 respectively. Apart from those glitches, the Type, Status, Rating and Date columns seem fine ... Same thing when I try other states. Looks it has been nobbled somehow.

Same here...
I get the same...
I also noticed that in the DOS window there are lot's of error: null null lines, followed by a few messages saying Sorter not informed of change in model followed by one line saying: error making unique names: null<br><br>
It's probably an "upgrade" to the geocaching.com site...

I think I know why ...
Suspect it's having a spack after finally hitting "rollover" ... latest cache on the gc.com homepage has a waypoint of GCG002, i.e. the last four digits don't work in hex anymore!!<br>
<br>
2Dogs' latest cache was GCFFF7 - <Maxwell Smart voice>"missed it by that much!" </Maxwell Smart voice>

That may be the reason but i'm not totally convinced. I had the same problem late last week (on or about the 18th), so I don't think "rollover" is the cause.
BTW as a matter of interest (and for my further education) how do you use the letter G in hexadecimal??? I figured you'd just add an extra character, that is make the GC code a 5 character hex string.

Well it turned out to be a combination Base 16 and base 31 number system. (the letters I,L,O and i think U & V are excluded, perhaps as they look like numbers or each other). While the first digit is still the treated as a base 16 number but can have values higher than 15 which is very bizzare! Anyways ive fixed up the routines that were not working anymore, but i have had to guess some of the details of the new codes so some things may stop working again in the future.
This release also uses the new JRE1.4.1 so you may need to download that from the java site. Sorry about that but it has some funky features im using in other projects and its a pain to use more than 1 at a time.
You can download it at the usual places i.e. http://geomonkeys.com/main/CacheMonkey/cachemonkey.html
Let me know if there are any issues with it.
Regards GeoMonkey Brad.
