Using a technique I learned from watching several seasons of '24' I managed to zoom in and get a number plate from one of the vehicles. Having found the registered owner, I'm now searching cell phone records to see where most of his calls are coming from. Hope to have an answer soon.

The phone trace is back. He is using his phone whilst waiting for the ferry to arrive at Tankerton on French Island

Lat 38 22.967
Lon 145 16.263

He is a suspect in something or other. Teams will arrive shortly.

Haven't looked up Google Earth, but the picture alone looks like an ISLAND with the car park up the top of the embankment from the wharf. So, I'd say somewhere in Bass straight?

I will agree with Jackhenry, I had a idea it was there last night but scanned at too high an altitude and missed the pier, well done. :D :D :D

<p>Correct - well spotted. The funny thing about this spot is the amount of cars there are on French Island. To get your car on and off costs over $100 and there aren't that many places to drive to once there.

Thanx Rabbitto

Tank47, it's amazing how zoomed in you need to be before that pier 'appears'. I can't get broadband, so my search was done via dialup. Talk about slow.

Rabbitto, let me know if you need an address to send the winners prize to.

Yes Rabbitto it does appear strange, but I am led to believe there are no rego fees required on the Island, as the last time I was there I saw no number plates visible on any vehicles. Therefore if it was a one way trip it is cheap, also the island is too big to walk around in a hurry.
