Is there enough interest for Wagga 2007?

Post by Team Horizons » 20 June 06 10:13 pm

After chatting with Mix and the mob from Dubbo this subject came up. A lot of good ideas were thrown around the room and some of them stuck in my head! Anyway we called an impromptu meeting at Wagga between the Bidgee Caching members and asked ourselves whether we would be willing to put in the time and effort to organise something that could possibly be very big. The answer was 'hell yeah, how much fun would that be!'.

So here's the idea. An event that would encompass individual caching as well as a state V state competition. Some type of weightings/averages would need to be used to even the playing field for the state comp. Anyway the rules (guidelines  ), themes etc can all be organised, as well as an area to setup base camp.

We also discussed in the meeting the time that such an event could be held. At this stage the 4 day holiday at Easter would definitely be the best for everyone in Wagga and also allows for more scope with an event. This also gives more time for people to travel the further distances.

As you all could appreciate such an event would take a LOT of organisation and time. This poll is to see if we start to move in that direction now and get things rolling. If you know cachers who don't use the forum but have a yay or nay please post their intentions here. We will see how the reaction is over the next 2 weeks and decide whether or not to proceed.

Thanks all for reading.
Joe - Team Horizons
Bidgee Caching member

I am cursed with a non-caching partner who probably wouldn't let me go.
I'm sure it will be great fun though.

Team Booya has been contemplating a trip to Wagga for some time now, so this may be the oppurtunity.

There would be approx 50 more standard caches put down but hardly any micros  , All ranging from 1/1 to 5/5. So definitely something new for people that have already canvassed the area. Also 50-100 temps placed for a point gathering system similar to Dubbo. We have heaps of ideas and if there isn't enough interest for a national event we will still be hosting one with a similar structure but a smaller scale. So either way bookmark Easter :D

We would love to revisit Wagga, unfortunately Easter can be a very busy time work wise and probably not be able to make it. We know the Wagga teams would make this event very interesting.

a tough time of year, with family commitments etc
We were recently in wagga (long weekend) , great caches, great part of the world(handy to have muggle b'in law as a local guide, nearly got himconverted !) we would be interested.
Cheers
P.S damo my sometimes non-cooperative partner and yours and any others can, whilst we continue our "fruitless boring time wasting pastime" go say "SHOPPING" instead !!!

Easter 2007 is someway off and work committments are unknown at this stage. However committments permitting would love to get to Wagga as we are virgin Wagga cachers - where's Wagga

Would love to come down there but it is too early to commit at this stage. Certainly would be a great trip.

The cache density looks high for new comers like TeamAstro. For old timers, arranging the event like Freddo did for our June LWE in SA worked well (infact brilliantly) - even though there was only 4-5 caches in the area. See the event page for what the organisers did. Very cool.

I may possibly be there, depending on the local RAAF happenings....

clear skies, TeamAstro.

Hey Astro, I bet you 10 bucks an F18 can't hit a traditional cache on the Easter Event with a JDAM...see what the flyboys can do..?
