NPWS have lost control of regional Parks!

Post by EcoTeam » 13 April 03 11:44 pm

As a result of post-election reshuffling, National Parks & Wildlife
Service (who have outlawed Geocaching in NSW) have lost control of all
"regional parks" effective immediately. Responsibility for these parks
now rests with the department of Sport & Recreation.
I don't know what this will do for geocaching, but it's got to be
better than having NPWS manage it. Maybe it gives us a second chance
to have geocaching "approved" as a sport, or at least not mentioned at
all which of course is taken to mean that it's OK :->
I assume that the department of sport and recreation will want to make
their own policies and not just transfer the NPWS policies over.

Tell us about it.

The NPWS is currently trying to get their claws into controling the Berowra Valley Bushland Park. Currently the park is classed as Regional Reserve which doesn't seem to carry the same rules and regs as a National Park, but NPWS wants to now outlaw many activities including walking of dogs on or off a leash . This is causing quite a stir in our area. They also want to close off some walking tracks as well. The NPWS cowboys are at it again and probably won't stop until the only thing you can do in the park is feed their ugly and very imposing park use meters. Funny how they are allowed to drill and cement those eye sores into the ground everywhere but we're not allowed to place a tupperware box anywhere.

Well it's official that NPWS have no control over Regional parks, so your one should be safe unless it gets changed to a "National" park.
I can't see the sport & rec people baning sport and rec activities!
