Although, I'd note the date - could be a coincidence, or not.

Quite a lot of effort for an 'or not'. =D>

I wasn't suggesting that it was real, more applauding the fact that to effort to set this up would have been considerably more than a simple forum post.

Well played to whichever admin is responsible.

New missions in dragonZone

Post by Geocaching Australia » 05 April 17 9:21 pm

Seven new missions are now available in dragonZone, each with a trophy and some of the best dZ points that the game has to offer.

In the eternal struggle to gain and maintian control of the dragonZones, you will need to travel far and wide. The latest trophies recognise these actions, and reward those who are prepared to find valid dZ caches in as many different Zones as possible. The new missions all bear the name of a legendary dragon, and carry with them rewards that are befitting of your endeavours.

The new missions are:

Nemiodoil Spark Maker
Find a valid dragonZone geocache (excluding Moveables) in 1 dragonZone.
Reward: 25 Points

Aisaid Match Lighter
Find a valid dragonZone geocache (excluding Moveables) in 25 dragonZones.
250 Points

Doapie Ember Creator
Find a valid dragonZone geocache (excluding Moveables) in 50 dragonZones.
500 Points

Chudhu Firestarter
Find a valid dragonZone geocache (excluding Moveables) in 100 dragonZones.
1000 Points

Bidaed Fire Blaster
Find a valid dragonZone geocache (excluding Moveables) in 250 dragonZones.
2500 Points

Piellel Flamethrower
Find a valid dragonZone geocache (excluding Moveables) in 500 dragonZones.
5000 Points

Frighid Scorching Erupter
Find a valid dragonZone geocache (excluding Moveables) in all dragonZones.
10000 Points

(Moveable caches are excluded from these missions due to the fact they, well, tend to move around a bit.)

You can view how many dragonZones you've claimed by visiting your 'Find stats', ie:

and scroll down to "Count of dragonZones (excludes Moveable)"

Soon there will be yes. There is a new mission coming which will need that information so it will be along in the near future.

Showing dragonZones on Google Maps

Post by Geocaching Australia » 16 April 17 11:28 am

A substantial enhancement has been made to the way in which dragonZones are now displayed on the Google Maps.

From today (please press CTRL-F5 to force a refresh of the map code when you visit the map) you will notice that the zones no longer disappear from the map as you move around until you untick the Show dragonZone tick box. They will continue to draw on the map as you move around building up a larger and larger area. UP to 25 dragonZones will be drawn for any give move, so move around a little more if you spot a gap.

http://geocaching.com.au/caches/availab ... u/vic.gmap then when you see the map press CTRL-F5 to get the latest code, zoom in and turn on the dragonZones.

The speed at which they draw is a little slower that it used to be. This method means you can see more dragonZones coloured than previously as we have changed from using the KMLLayer in Google Maps to a more robust (albeit slightly slower) polygon drawing tool.

Also if you untick then tick, the dragonZones are simply redisplayed rather than being gathered and redrawn again. This is much faster than before.

As the dragonZone data is now all stored as you move around if you collect too many zones you may find your machine slows down so be judicious about how many dragonZones you gather.

As some of the data is large, patience with some of the more complex dragonZones will be appreciated.

A very nice enhancement. The dZ map is now a pleasure to use. =D>

How do you update your trophies?

Just checked my stats and I have cached in 26 dragon zones but have not got the 25+ trophy?

May Madness Bonanza

Post by Geocaching Australia » 01 May 17 7:23 am

Do you enjoy the dragonZone aspect of geocaching, but feel eternally trapped in the rank of Dragon Fodder?
Are you itching to move up to the rank of Knight but just feel like a frustrated Merchant?
Are you tired of the Major dragonZoner crowd and want to be the second cacher to attain the rank of Duke?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then get ready to earn bonus dragonZone points during the month of May.

Starting on Saturday the 6th May, and concluding at midnight on Sunday the 21st of May, is Geocaching Australia's May Madness Bonanza!
During these sixteen days, you will earn a 3x dragonZone point bonus for finds and hides on dZ compatible caches.

Here's your chance to climb the ranks, and increase your influence on the dragonZone realm.
