But wouldn't it be correct to say the 1000 points are still possible without even touching a GCA geocache as long as you can travel, walk and swim? From my calculations it must be close.caughtatwork wrote:The game admins have already copped flack (and the game has not even been running for a whole day yet) because (surprise) GCA is favored over GC. If you don't want to do ANYTHING at GCA you can still be in with a chance to win. If you want to play GCA as well, your chances are different because you get more to choose from. Again, don't assume everyone will play the game the same way or target the same challenge loads.Laighside Legends wrote:Yes, the maximum would be about 2200. Work out what the minimum for all the challenges is - you'll find it's about 1500. Hence you can't do all the challenges without exceeding 1000.tronador wrote:You need 1000 points and the aim is not to exceed this. If you were to do all the challenges and receive maximum points for those challenges not already allocated points, you would end up with 2200 points.Laighside Legends wrote:This is going to be interesting. Last time several people finished all the challenges and got to the required number of points (and the final placings came down to when people finished). This time no one will finish all the challenges since the minimum total number of points is somewhere in the order of 1500. The trick to finishing high up the ladder is going to be not doing the Marathon or the Decathlon!
Why couldn't you do the marathon or the decathlon, if you wanted to gain a lot of points quickly?

No. 29 Triathlon - how does the scoring work here? You need to find 3 caches - do they all count for scores or do we just pick one?

You just pick one, but list them all on your submissionLaighside Legends wrote:No. 29 Triathlon - how does the scoring work here? You need to find 3 caches - do they all count for scores or do we just pick one?

Challenge 1. Can the 08 be in the latitude and the 05 be in the longitude or must all 4 numbers be in sequential order as listed?

They can be anywhere in the co-ords and can also span the . or the ° . The following is an example of one we prepared earlier:tronador wrote:Challenge 1. Can the 08 be in the latitude and the 05 be in the longitude or must all 4 numbers be in sequential order as listed?

Re: GeosportZ 2016
no. 29 Triathlon- can 1 of the caches be used as another requirement, if its not the one being used for points in this challenge. ie, if i get a multi, traditional and mystery and use the mystery for points in this challenge, can I use the multi used in triathlon, for use in another challenge?

The rules are pretty clear :tronador wrote:no. 29 Triathlon- can 1 of the caches be used as another requirement, if its not the one being used for points in this challenge. ie, if i get a multi, traditional and mystery and use the mystery for points in this challenge, can I use the multi used in triathlon, for use in another challenge?
Each requirement must be claimed against a different geocache. ie. You cannot claim more than one requirement per geocache.
each cache can only be used for one sport/event

Re: GeosportZ 2016
So devastated the aquatic challenge needs to be waist deep - I drove to Narromine this morning before work just to grab 3 geocaches at the wetlands, just to find all 3 innacessible due to flooding. The one hidden on 05/08 was at least knee deep to get to, and the multi has 2 wapoints out of reach. I scored 0/3 caches and 3 hours lost trying.
By the way, does a multi that makes you walk 1500m+ to visit all the waypoints and reach the final qualify for the 1500m challenge even though the final location is less than 1500m from the starting point?

Yes, that would be fine. You have still walked 1500m+ to find the cache.No_Tomorrow wrote:So devastated the aquatic challenge needs to be waist deep - I drove to Narromine this morning before work just to grab 3 geocaches at the wetlands, just to find all 3 innacessible due to flooding. Re: GeosportZ 2016
Does Aquatics need the swim or wade attribute. What about a cache that definitely needs a river crossing, and photographic proof that you waded waist high to cross that river, and the map shows it is on the other side of the river???
Same with Kayak?? Does it have to have the boat icon or can you travel to GZ by kayak, and that is mentioned in the descritpion and you provide photos???

It's all about the photographic evidence. (I am really looking forward to these ones..... there has only been one wrestling one so far.....)tronador wrote:Does Aquatics need the swim or wade attribute.
