Top Australian Geocacher
Hi everyone,
I am doing a little project and am wondering who the top geocacher in Australia would be, for both GCA and GC geocaching? Would people in America or at least Groundspeak know this name? If it is unknown, maybe who are some of the top ones or names that might be well known by Groundspeak?

This list shows the world and Liz & Bruce sit at 208.
There is a similar list for Australia only including only GC caches but I can't find it.

These are great. Thanks.
That Project GC looks interesting.

I ran a geocaches hidden search on it. Interesting to see which names show up on both lists and where. http://project-gc.com/Statistics/TopHid ... mit=FilterBig Matt and Shell wrote:This one works too...

How do you define "top geocacher"? Largest find count? Dedication to the hobby as a whole? Best looking? Something else?No_Tomorrow wrote:... who the top geocacher in Australia would be, for both GCA and GC geocaching? ...
Although those at the top end of the offered lists will, undoubtedly, fit well with the first two criteria (and, possibly, the third one) we should all remember it's not about the numbers.

Oh, I totally understand that. I'm actually just looking for a name that might be known or should be made known internationally as someone who displays their love for geocaching through their participation. It's just for a fun film project.WazzaAndWenches wrote:How do you define "top geocacher"? Largest find count? Dedication to the hobby as a whole? Best looking? I myself just love searching for that hidden treasure. If you could see the bits I edit out of my youtube vlogs you would laugh at how passionate I am to find a little plastic container in the bush. Especially ones that haven't been found for ages or were archived. haha.
But for those interested in numbers, I've actually been having fun playing with top 120 stats found on the Project GC site for hours and am enjoying seeing who has been geocaching for a long time, who has both found and hidden most, etc. It is interesting to see the variations and consider what makes them tick. As an example, from the top 120 hides and finds, the top 3 most hides per find are 3LG, Tankengine, and Freddo, and if you added rankings on both boards the top 3 would be Freddo, Liz and Bruce, and Sol de lune. The most impressive numbers-wise would be 3LG as it appears they have only been geocaching 3 years. It was interesting to learn who were some of the earliest geocachers with high combined hides and finds like Tankengine, Freddo, mtbikeroz, Biggles Bear and The Rats.

Woot both Tankengine and SoldeLune are ACT cachers... VIVA LA ACT
Re: Top Australian Geocacher
After geocaching from Central Coast NSW and Sydney region to Canberra/ACT. I can certainly attest to the effort and work that Sol de Lune and Tank Engine put in. Both of these two would have caches all around Australia if they probably could get away with it. They are also dedicated with the finding and other activities, but they have the time Sol in particular to support this. Others also do what they can with the limited time they do. Though If you looked at their (Sol and Tank) obsession factor on GCA they'd probably be maxed out
Cheers

Yes I've been learning a bit studying figures and reading the forums. I've also noticed Sol de lune's DragonZone conquest over the last 2 months. How couldn't you I'd you were playing?!
I was considering entering the Geocaching Film Festival with a little Australian film fun. Didn't happen. But I may still do it for myself. A name was chosen a while ago. It's not anything to do with being #1, just a well known or respected name. You'll just have to wait and see who and what for.
