You may be rushing into thisone a bit... C@W is away having a much-deserved holiday. It might pay to wait until he's back...?

Of course, you can still have ideas - just save them up.

Re: 2014/15 Moveable Challenge/Race
I do enjoy it each year but fatigue sets in after new year. Once all the available caches are found it gets pretty tricky unless you are travelling interstate.
A few people dropped out last year who were regulars in the past.
We'll probably only be around up to Xmas too.

Perhaps this years race could be "Balloon Animals".
An almost infinite range of possibilities for a cache construction and they auto destruct after a period of time.

There would be nothing stopping other people starting their own race/races. We'd happily throw in a few pathtags or something for prizes. I've got a heap of them here that I have no idea what to do with!

Re: 2014/15 Moveable Challenge/Race
I'd like to see a Dragon Zone inspired mini-game/race/thing this year
Something perhaps like a DZ Summer League that inspires people to get out and be GCA cache active. In the last few races fatigue did set in and a flood of movables again wont ease that. Movables would of course be a major part of any DZ event, but what makes races/events fun is purpose in caching, that feeling you are making progress towards a goal. An 8 week comp where at end of each day or week League points are awarded to each clan for DZ controlled, maybe with a multiplier if the clan also controls the state. This way the pre-existing individual points of players doesn't matter much as it wont count towards the league score, though it still gives an advantage to active players who have bumped their DZ level to allocate more points.
You could still have the traditional 'furthest moved', 'most moved' etc type aspects to the case race, but a leauge table with a deadline could alleviate the fatigue as the back 4 weeks would be just as important (or more so!) than the first 4 and even once you have found the movables there is inspiration to move them again!

Re: 2014/15 Moveable Challenge/Race
Maybe a limit of one or two moveables per cacher might be a sensible idea. There were so many in Tasmania that they became hard to hide once you found them. Quality not Quanity is the key

It was the opposite (well sort of) here in WA ... I think we only had 4 or 5 players in last summers race so Angels were hard to come by.budgietas wrote:Maybe a limit of one or two moveables per cacher might be a sensible idea. Re: 2014/15 Moveable Challenge/Race
Perhaps there should be a new rule that allows for postage of a certain number of caches during the race, if you apply first and have a good and adequate reason (such as dying of heat on the Nullarbor Plain if you can't post the cache). Perhaps if we are each issued with, say, 3 electronic 'passes' for a free postage event, and mark them off as we use them?
I don't play the dragon game, so that bit would be lost on me, but caches in the shape of dragons sounds lke fun.
Edit: Oh, and you couldn't post your own cache, obviously.....

The mad bunnies are not quite THAT mad! It's a bit out of our way. If I tell the boss it's still up for a FTF, you never know....
Seriously, I'm sorry to hear that, Tiedyesmileys! If you can think of a way to make the game fairer for remote location people, Caught@work will be thrilled!

Re: 2014/15 Moveable Challenge/Race
Quality , not quantity. I would choose an object that is harder to come by to avoid trashy toys that ended up clogging up hidey holes in huge numbers. I still enjoyed the gnomes best and the frogs next. I think garden ornaments are ideal because they are big. Just need to choose one. I vote for owls.
