GLONASS

Am in the market for a new GPSr and am looking at the newer GLONASS enabled ones.

Does GLONASS make a difference in Australia and if so how much?

I have an etrex 30 and a Samsung S2 both with GLONASS. Although I don't have another GPS to compare it to it does lock on quickly and I almost always have 3m accuracy with at least 15 satellites except under very heavy tree cover. Sitting at home now I have 9 GPS and 8 GLONASS satellites.

I've found the phone has just as good accuracy and an even faster lock. If I'm going for a quick cache, I often won't bother with the etrex.

Like I said, I don't have another GPSr for comparison but more satellites can't be bad.
