Missing Caches

Post by Ben and Benji » 21 April 13 10:56 am

I have 2 geocaches in the Simpson desert that have been misplaced. If someone is going up there soon, could they please have a look? One is on the Knolls track and the other is on the Erabena track. Please tell me if you can help. :-k

Don't you have friends who make this trip who would be willing to maintain it for you?

And if you make this trip twice a year, surely you'd be able to take care of this Geocache very easily fairly soon?

I mean, I don't want to put words into your mouths, but I seem to recall you telling me something rather like this to get these published...

My friends hid a cache on the top of australia (yet live in canberra). They actuary make the trip yearly. (and know others that go up there)
Therefore, they could probably maintain it.

It got rejected because they live too far away.

People like you, ruin the system for everyone. Thanks.

I trust the "ÿou" is targeted at the original people.

"Misplaced". Hmmm, what does "misplaced" mean anyway?

The original coords were out, or they have gone missing?

Or does it actually mean they shouldn't have been placed to start with?

I'm all for remote area caches, and generally find cachers a fairly helpful bunch when it comes to maintaining remote area ones (I have a few in SA before the rules on distance were as tight as they are now). If I am going to remote areas I will generally take along some spare containers in case I find a damaged one out there where it may not be easy for the original hider to get to. But misplaced, I hope the intention isn't for someone to throw out an "angel cache" to replace it.

There's a thought.....
Publish a cache.....
Don't even go out and place a container and when no one can find anything, ask for the next person to drop one off. Armchair caching, like those people who log TB's from OS without ever even coming here.

Ok ok, I might have lied about the friends thing but we are planning to go up there again. I was just wondering if it could be done sooner. It takes a lot off planning.
