GSAK Question
GSAK Question
I am fairly new to the whole GSAK thing. I've just been clearing up archived caches this morning. One cache in my database no longer appears anywhere:
GC3YDHB The Movie Swap Cache
It was in the ACT. Would I be correct in assuming that not only has it been archived, but it has also been unpublished?
Thanks!

Re: GSAK Question
It existed at one time:
http://geocaching.com.au/cache/GC3YDHB
It certainly appears to have been retracted (unpublished);

Re: GSAK Question
I have it in my GSAK.
Maybe we should wait until GC thave finished their update starting at 1pm today....
It could well turn up again after they reboot

It has been 'unpublished' on gc.com for maybe a week.Swampy wrote:Maybe we should wait until GC thave finished their update starting at 1pm today....

Re: GSAK Question
Looking at the logs on GCA it was probably retracted as it appears GZ was too close to another cache.

Re: GSAK Question
It might not reappear! I complained to both Groundspeak and the NSW/ACT reviewer about the cache in question. Mine was the nearby cache. Haven't heard back from the reviewer but Groundspeak central said they would look in to it. My needs maintenance logs were deleted by the cache owner and he sent me some rude emails so with a bit of luck, he was banned.

Re: GSAK Question
I was the last to find & LOG it, before it got "unpublished" I also mentioned in my log a veiled query about the proximity to Agent Basils nearby cache as it was way too close to that GZ.
Not the first time that cacher or his mate have placed caches (& got them published) too close to others, even 50m away.
I got a coloured print out of the cache page, but deleted the electronic version, not even dreaming it would vanish like that.

Re: GSAK Question
Here's the interesting thing, for those that managed to log it online it stays in your find count.
I picked Agent Basil as I thought he must have found it. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest. ... gent+Basil shows 1231 records.
http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid ... 1401b17777 shows 1232 finds.
Good to know.

Re: GSAK Question
Yes, I noticed that straight away when I tried to go to the cache page again. It remains in the "Quick view" list for 30 days, but after that I suspect it's gone for good. And from the "Quick View" the "visit log" link still takes me to my log, but after 30 days, again I suspect I will never be able to see my log again.
(I wonder what would happen if I edited my log there too - the edit link is active)
Weird!
