Display GPS Track on a map (on personal web site)

Post by ian-and-penny » 27 September 12 1:26 pm

What I would like to do is display a historical track of where we have been, by using saved GPS track logs or Oziexplorer .plt files, on to a (Google) map within our personal blog web site.

Any ideas on how this can be accomplished would be very welcome.

Hi Ian, try this http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/, or if you have a Garmin GPS try this http://www.pangloss.com/maps/GarminGPSmap.html

We hope you are having fun on your travels.
Cheers.

you might have better luck converting to a more popular GPX format.

You could open them in Google Earth, if it helps. :frog

File>Open>(Files of type: GPS, ...)

Is it a wordpress based site?

There used to be some good GPX/KML based plugins I used to use, but they are not any good for non-wp sites

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/goo ... px-viewer/ is just one

Yes WP based site.

That plugin looks like something I could use.

Wordpress site with any of the map plugins will be the easiest solution.

I use XML google maps WP plugin with the OSM map option.
