For the pedants amongst us ...
Re: For the pedants amongst us ...
I rarely suggest corrections to a cache owner's spelling or grammar, for a few reasons:
- Life's too short and time too valuable for me to correct the hundred or so caches per week I review.
- It might cause offence if someone's touchy about their lack of education, or their dyslexia, etc.
- As a cacher, I sometimes pass by caches where the listing is unreadable, on the assumption that there might well be the same level of care and attention paid to the placement as there is to the listing. Editing could give the false impression that the cache owner cared enough to spell-check or get a literate friend to proof-read their listing.
That said, I do occasionally point out errors in listings that seem to be otherwise well written, on the assumption the owner has made a genuine typo. (So if I correct something, take it as a compliment!)
I also have a macro pointing out that only the Americans misspell "metre" and "litre" and we shouldn't accept what the 'Merkin spell-checker insists is correct.
In any case, I'm very unlikely to refuse to publish a cache based on the level of literacy of the listing, or even to delay it while any suggested corrections are made. And I can count the number of times I've edited a listing myself on one hand, and in each case it was with the cache owner's permission or I wouldn't've touched it.

The spelling will have you twitching, but some of the responses are gold... Reckon GCA can maintain a list of priceless logs like this? The Hall of Logging Infamy (or should that be "Hal of Loging Inpha me")

I'm not sure what annoys me more with cache logs: garbled waffle or blank logs. I think the blank logs actually, at least the garblers made an effort. Then again I've only seen a few blank logs vs quite a few incomprehensible logs.

I just 'hate' caughtatwork for the few hours I lost on the failbook site - though I can't work out how I've survived these past decades with BODMAS being hidden beyond easy conscious access...
I refer to the rants over 10 + 10 x 0 = .... http://failbook.failblog.org/page/10/ it will be on page 11 or 12 tomorrow...
