Did a interesting trick the other day. One of us deployed the munzee then another scanned it and took a picture, went back to the car 50 meters away and displayed the image on the screen of the phone that took a picture then a third person scanned the munzee from the picture. I think the scan range is 1000 feet ? (reported gps distance from deployed location)

I do this all the time :D When ever I come across one I cant "See" easily usually I take a photo of the Munzee (as it is under a seat or something) then simply scan the photo instead. 1000ft is the limit for now (300m) but this will be greatly reduced in the future I hear.

I had this problem yesterday. I just pointed the camera blindly and waited for the blip. It would be a bit easier if the Munzee app could use the front-facing camera.

The Tardis Trio wrote:I can confirm that you can't capture a non-deployed munzee. Honeysucker had one, I scanned it and it said it was not deployed. He then deployed it, I then scanned it and it worked. However I think there is a time delay before it shows up on the website map (I haven't confirmed this). Maybe this is the flaw that you discovered??
Yep, that's it. Based on when my SMS come through, it looks like the map updates once an hour on the hour.

Not an enforced one. The guidelines ask you to consider density.

I've found the map plus the note is the best way to find them, but the Navigate to Munzie using
Google Navigation is great to get you to the immediate area by car.
Same for getting to caches, using c:geo if you have an Android.

Munzee first started playing up on Saturday 10th, it refused to OK my user name and pwd on the Android app, even though I could login via a browser. By Sunday night the browser method was timing out as well.
After seeing some of the replies to people who were noticing the huge amount of data download just to view the map and the offhanded way the Munzee people were fobbing off their concerns I'm not surprised they are having server problems...

So far, I can see 8 gold ones sitting there waiting to be grabbed in SA alone!

Managed to get a gold 50 point Munzee yesterday, which was one I'd previously tried to capture twice but poor reception meant it stuffed up and didn't register the capture.
The updated app seems a bit more buggy ](*,)

The next closest gold one to me is one of my own munzees which I can't get the points for. Oh, and Woodhouse, which I was at yesterday morning, before the gold munzees appeared... arrrrgghhh!!!!

Found my first one today at Sydney Airport. Not a gold one, but that doesn't matter. Interestingly after grabbing the image it seemed to hang and never came back to me. After 5 minutes I gave up, rescanned it and it straight away told me I had already captured that one. So a little buggy in the implementation at least of the iPhone app.

I can see them as a diversion and something to do when one is nearby, but not something that will replace caching for me.

Well after thinking WA had missed out on the Gold munzees we managed to get 1 at midnight and again another at 6.30am.

Whilst they are fun and getting in at the ground level is great. I think geocaching is still 'it' for us. More playing required to be sure though.

Saying that though we are still looking forward to the moveable race, bring on 'Leap Frog' :gnome \:D/
