Sounds reasonable, if you are truly offended by the letter. Otherwise no, it would be just working the system. Can I use your argument to delete logs that include this offensive letter?

I don't think my argument is a bad one, but is there a reg. ? What seems illogical to someone may seem logical to someone else.

If they have signed up using a bogus address as has been suggested they are unlikely to ever know their log has been deleted.Papa Bear_Left wrote:The only reason you'd get away with deleting logs using this bogus argument is the likelihood that anyone posting blank logs probably won't know how to complain to gc to get them re-instated!
It's been too long since I joined GCA to know if there is a verification email that needs to be responded to before you are registered, if not perhaps C@W can advise how many emails start bouncing straight away.

Cacher: C?
Hider: Yes. Its all due to a trauma I suffered when I was a Sboolboy. I was attacked by a bat.
Cacher: Ah, a cat?
Hider: No a bat.
Cacher: Well can you say the letter K?
Hider: Oh yes, Khaki, Kettle, Kipling, Kuwait, Kings Bollege Bambridge.
Cacher: Well why dont you say the letter K, instead of the letter C?
Hider: What, you mean like spell bolour with a K?
Cacher: Right.

Cacher: Yes.
Hider: Ah thats very good. I never thought of that before. What a silly bunt.

Re: Minimalist Cache Logs -- Opinions Wanted
I used to get pretty disappointed by "TFTC" logs.
I was equally annoyed by two particular cachers who just post the same thing on every log, along the lines of
"Found on an after work run with my mate xxxxx"
I had a look at these two cachers' profiles, and they've both found over 2700 caches each, and hidden not a one.
I can now understand why they never put any effort into a log.
They just don't appreciate the pleasure reading a nice log on one of your caches can give you.

Oh dear, what a disappointing result:WanderingAus wrote:I just sent my first Zalgariath style message to a cacher of 5 days experience and 6 finds, the first three were blank, then 4 words, 4 words, 7 words. I live in eternal hope of further improvements to his logs.Zalgariath wrote: Here is the one I wrote....Hi <iPhone Cacher Name>!
Thanks for finding my cache <hide-I-spent- a- good-bit-of-effort-on-to-create-your-experience> the other day
I just checked, and there are now 22 words between four caches, and MY CACHE still has an empty log. There were actually only 5 finds, one double find including a blank log skewed the stats."Sorry you didn't get any of my logs as I did log them. I really enjoyed caching it's great to get out with friends and go hunting and get some exercise at the same time. Keep up the good work
xxxxxxxx (name obscured to protect the guilty)
Sent from my iPhone"
And he even signs off "Sent from my iPhone" - I REALLY hate that.
What do I say this time, this cacher obviously didn't understand the email.
Perhaps I should start adding the following to my logs:
Logged from my mobile device (a laptop with a Turbo wifi stick) from the comfort of my mobile device (a caravan) brought to Darwin by my mobile device (a geoPajero), after approaching the cache in my mobile device (the geoPajero) and finding it with my mobile device (a Magellan gpsr).
That would help to bring my Verbosity up to the 100 mark for another find, if nothing else.

It's great to see that you enjoy caching.
It appears that using an iPhone to log caches is a hit and miss affair, especially as your logs haven't made it up to the cache page.
Could you please log in to Geocaching dot com from a PC to check on your logs, and to edit the ones that are currently blank to put in some detail.
It's my policy to delete blank or inappropriate logs, and I will be deleting a whole batch of them in a couple of days. Hopefully yours will be fixed by then. . .

Surely anyone with half a clue deletes it after the embarrassment of having it added to the first email they send from the phone.
Last time I had something like it on a cache log was on a 100 word+ log I wrote on the iPhone for one of Zalgarieth's caches after a similar discussion to this had been happening on the forum. (There was talk of increasing log verbosity and I also had a 6 day old baby at home, can you tell.)
It's not hard to write logs (long or otherwise) with the Groundspeak geocaching app. I usually log straight from the field but if I do want to take the time for a more considered reply I just log it as a field note and write it online later. This was cache find two of three for the day making a grand total of something more than three.
I was very impressed with the effort put into this micro. From the nicely handcrafted logbook to some interesting history of the area it was a top cache all the way.
GAFF (Gosh I'm A Fantastic Finder) = 500000 (Super awesome!)
GZPF (ground zero precipitation factor) = 0.5 (slight drizzle)
OAOTS (observed albedo of the sky) = 3 (overcast)
LSF (logging silliness factor) = 99 (extremely)
Well done zalgarieth. For this excellent cache I award you 5 fluffy bunnies.
*recommended*
Logged from my mobile device because I damn well can.
As far as short logs on my caches go, while I might feel a little disappointed occasionally at the lack of effort put in by a log writer I don't think it's worth getting angry about. I think hassling an immature player for not playing the game the right way is more likely to get my caches stolen than make them change their attitude.

Re: Minimalist Cache Logs -- Opinions Wanted
Yesterday I found one of the caches placed by a notorious blank logger. I took some strange pleasure in writing a blank online log only to be told I couldn't do it! A single full stop did the trick of course.
Childish I know.

Sorry to go off topic but why is there a wiki page on "Zalgariath"?Zalgariath wrote: I have updated the Wiki "Logging a Cache Page" with a passage on Blank Logs

I have also put the template up on its own page so others can cut/paste/edit (oh the irony! ) to their own satisfaction.
