Google Streetview updated at last!

Post by Papa Bear_Left » 27 July 11 3:22 pm

Google Maps finally has the newer pictures online now, apparently in higher resolution, as well.
Given that the house we bought in FEB 2010 has a "For Sale" sign outside it, they're not all that new...

I'm on one of them! I saw the Googlemaps van when I was driving a bus, and this is the resulting picture (although I'm not really very visible):

Canberra was done around christmas time, on a tuesday, on a public service pay week.

And that's what i can tell from just one of my neighbours houses! :D

Also find it pretty lulz worthy that they've blurred the fragnapanis on my mother's car. Hah!

That's an interesting bus with 2 and a half axles...

My car and motorbike no longer appear at my house in Perth (from 3.5+ years ago).
Instead, it's my old car, at my current place in Canberra, indicating somewhere between Sept 2009 and Mar 2010 for images.

The Canberra images as far as i can tell are prior to Christmas 2009. My wife can be clearly seen driving our car out of our driveway and we moved from Canberra in December 2009.

Wow. The google car even drove down the private road that the townhouses and homettes our place occupies
Certainly was awhile ago though. The rogue palm tree in our front yard is twice the height now. Although it does grow at an amazing rate of knots.
And no, we were not home. Dammit.

My poor attemp to chase said car is only shown on two shots.
While the wife can be seen watching down town.

They drove by just after I mowed my lawn! So my house looks great on a sunny day . . .

Just checked up again on a cache here in Sydney using Streetview . . . very useful.

The ever elusive Bear Left, the stuff of myth and legend or solitary cacher, sometimes spotted at events but rarely logged

I checked out our new "drive by" laughed that our GEO stickers have been blurred out on both our cars, . I tried to find some info on how it blurs number plates and faces but not house numbers, strange! This made me laugh tho "Google Street View blurs face of Colonel Sanders at every KFC"

Dang. I saw one last year with one of our work vans in front of it, and my work car behind. Unluckily the shots they have put up are from when it was going the other way down that street.

Nothing interesting to see at my house though, cars out of the driveway. Looks like late spring or early summer though from the look of the garden.

Our street was done on a Tuesday at around 330pm in November or early December 2009!

How do I know?

Bins are out but emptied.
Kids on way home from local school but not many left and they are nearly home.
Houses have Xmas decorations but only the really keen ones who get in early.
Geoson is wearing school uniform from back then. Different school since 2010.

The Canberra Weston Creek shots were done on a Monday morning probably 10ish?

Same as Yurt, the bins are out and the shadows seem to indicate mid morning
