OZ MEGA ALBURY WODONGA

Post by Oz Mega Committee » 30 June 11 8:58 pm

As promised, the Oz Mega Committee will keep a new thread going here with updates for all geocachers to see here right through to Easter 2012.

This topic will give information and all the latest updates.
A few teams have asked the Committee for an information topic with no questions on it, so this is it.
If you wish to ask a question about the event, there are at least three places on the website to do so.Although you will find most info is on the website and if not will be added in upcoming weeks.

The GC code is GC2Q4JF....or click here direct...http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_de ... b2fac9240b

The website direct is...http://www.ozmega.com.au/

The whole event is basically an ongoing daily business of setting up all components.

The website was updated on Tuesday night and we now have a new TAB across the top with STALLHOLDERS.
The stallholders are listed with geocaching team, business and website and all the stall information together with Pathtag and Geocoin news.
More stallholders and sponsors will be added over upcoming weeks.

We also have updated the Camping TAB with 53 of the allocated powered sites reserved from the 74 ,and that number jumped to 55 today.
So, if you have some friends entering, who require a powered site, better chase them up as the powered sites will be gone within 2 weeks.

The Oz Mega Committee thanks all geocachers for the stunning responses with about 330 people entered via 'will attends ' after exactly 4 weeks of release.

A Committee update on the latest after 5 weeks of progress.
The 74 powered sites at the Albury Wodonga Equestrian Centre are now fully allocated . We are taking 5 reserves for changes in circumstances of the 74.

We now have 152 teams that have placed "Will Attends " equating to 371 people with 2 teams from the USA and one from NZ.

Dont forget to place your "Will Attend " if you are thinking of attending as it helps the Committee get an idea of logistics and infrastructure set up and bookings of the the Oz Mega site.
Thankfully,
Greg.

A further Committee update : :D
The Oz Mega website has been updated with new information at each tab.
We now have a tourism link on the home page.
<Sponsor removed>

The Camping page has been adjusted.Powered site requests have had a shuffle with all the reserves moving in. We now have 3 more spots available plus will take 5 new reserves. So, if you have a friend who you think will need a powered site, best give them a ring and ask them to place a "Will Attend " as they will go quickly.
We have also placed a link on the powered site section to the 4 caravan parks within Albury for those who must have power.
The Registration process will be all set to go during September. :D
All the meals will be catered for by the <sponsor removed> and the 1st Albury Scouts Group who will be onsite for 5 days.
The stall holders tab has been updated with our 4th stallholder in <sponsor removed> conducted by Alex of Adelaide.
More FAQ information has been included on that tab.

There will be free pony rides for all the kids all day Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday on site.
We have more sponsors and stallholders in our next website upgrade in two weeks.
We have reached the 400 mark in people placing "Will Attends " with about 410 now, which gives us a great start of numbers with 8 months to go.
Thankfully,
Greg,
President.

Hmmm ... the website isn't exactly wide-screen friendly. I'd offer my help to change that - who would be the best person to contact?

Cheers

The Oz Mega Committee had its 3 weekly website upgrade last night with more information for geocachers.

The Home page now has a recommended cache list compiled by Marcus Vitruvius underneath the smiley map. This list includes 18 caches within Albury, 16 within 45 minutes drive and another 54 within "series " caches. Also included are owners , GC codes and locations plus approximate completion times. It will be updated constantly.

The Camping TAB is updated with the 74 powered sites now booked. We have 5 reserves listed , so best that the reserves allow for the fact they probaly wont sneak in .You will be informed if a change occurs.

The event welcomes our 5th Stallholder to the mega with <sponsor removed> from Victoria having a facepainting stall for 4 days. She will conducting all sorts of face painting including 'Signal the frog " and the the Geocaching .com logo.

Our 6th Stallholder is <sponsor removed> by jgc3 of Adelaide who will be there for 4 days. All the websites and details are on the stallholders TAB.

A reminder when placing your "Will Attend " to include 1/ How many attending . 2/ kids ages if under 18 . 3/ suburb, town , city ,state traveling from and 4/ probable day of arrival.

I have spoken to Justine , the official facepainter and she is confident of doing logo's for 1/ Geocaching.com 2/ Signal the frog 3/ Geocaching Australia and 4/ Geocaching NSW.
She is going to do all 4 on a subject one at time , take a photo and we are going to place all 4 photographs on the stallholders TAB , next to her website.

Thankfully,

Greg.
