The Aussie top 100 bucket list

I see today in news.com that Australian Traveller magazine have put out a bucket list.

It states "100 Things To Do Before You Die features destinations picked by a panel of well-known and well-travelled Australians, including Lonely Planet founder Tony Wheeler, George Negus and Catriona Rowntree."

Looking through the list I couldnt help but wonder if there is a cache at each location and thinking it would make a great geocaching list.
I also got a reasonable score out of 100. Although I hadnt thought about attending an Australian open I have done Freddo's Lleyton's Gates does that count?

Not one mention of "Geocache Your Way Around Australia"
And where are "Paddle a kayak down the Murray", "Ride a pushbike between two capital cities" ?
Too hard for our celebs I suppose

The "Tick off all the Luxury Lodges of Australia" listing at number 28 should indicate the 'elitist' nature of the bucket list !!
It is nice what you can do if you work for a company that pays for it all

And what ever happened to "Visiting" places ?
"Doing" them sounds so matter of fact, like you didn't really enjoy yourself and were just ticking boxes

I think there's some sort of fish traps in a creek somewhere they reckon are a trillion or so years old. Not exactly the pyramids though.

It's a bit wankerish in places especially the luxury resorts bit. I've been to about 20% of the listed places I think.
Lord Howe Island is probably my favourite - no geocaches there though, possibly Earthcaches though.

Brewarrina's aboriginal stone fish traps are supposed to be over 40,000 years old:

Apparently the oldest man made structures that exists on Earth, these stone fish traps are reportedly evidence of engineering skill, knowledge of river hydrology & fish biology, these represent typical Aboriginal traits both spiritual & practical that binds them to the land whom which they believe is sacred. The local Ngemba people have been the age old custodians of the fish traps & their descendants manage the Aboriginal fisheries centre on the riverbank above the site.

Good ideas for cache sites.

I'd leave a fair few of these things off my own personal 'do before dying' list and add others instead.

I suppose it all depends on how much time you have left! And the 'rich and famous' judging panel no doubt have their own slant.

If I were only 20, I'd sure take a different view . . .

Once you're over 60, seeing the world's oldest fish traps fails to excite!

What about "world's oldest trig station"? How would that excite you?

Well the Parrots sort of rate about 38 for this as I am going to claim the tracks one (61) because I think 2 out of 3 is a pass mark. There is no chance we will do all this list as we will never do number 28. I also think our cruise across Cable beach at Broome in a Pearl Lugger sipping wine and nibbling cheese watching the sun set beats their Camel ride on the beach.
Still I have ticked off a lot of these since starting geocaching in 2004.
