A BETTER use for 35mm film canisters

Post by noikmeister » 20 January 11 7:41 pm

Inspired by Zalgariath's locactionless cache, I finally got my butt into gear and made up my first batch of CITO Swaps. I had the idea about a year ago when I kept finding rubbish while out caching and I always forgot to bring a plastic bag with me. So I thought, why not stuff a plastic shopping bag into a 35mm film cannister and keep it in my caching bag, or better yet put the film canisters into caches so you can pick up all the rubbish you spied on the way to the cache on the way back to the car.

I'll be putting on in every cache of sufficient size I find/place from now on. I only ask 1 other thing; If you find one, don't use it as a geocache container!
Thanks to Wing6Rider for the containers and everyone else who offered.

An inspired Idea Nork! The gang at Two Hands love it and would like to encourge everyone to copy it blatently :P

All you need is small container, an old plastic bag and a label.

I am working on a standardised one you can print a sheet of and cut and tape to your canisters or contianers.

If you make your own the TwoHands gang ask to put "Find us on FaceBook: Two Hands Project.org" and dont forget not only to tell people to CITO at the spot they find the Canister, but to take it home, refill it with a bag, and drop it off at another cache :D (...and claim a smilely for GA3002! haha)

I'll upload labels to the LOC Cache once I get time to do them asap.

=D> Congrats and Huge Thanks to Nork for such a fantastic idea. =D>

I have the MSword template that can be used for the specific labels I used. You can get them from K-Mart and they go through any printer (turn off your duplex though). If you want it, then PM my your email address and I'll send it through along with the code # of the labels it is for.

What a great idea, I actually wanted to ask where we can get CITO stuff in Australia as I haven't been able to find anything except a coin from Australian suppliers.

Brilliant idea - well done!

If you want to reduce the chance that they will end up as cache containers, why not drill a few holes in the sides and lids to make them less attractive?

I picked up something similar in a cache here in Brisbane a while ago. It had the CITO sticker on it and contained a plastic bag and a pair of those thin plastic gloves. Very good idea, and the more there are, the better. I can see an ammo can in a dirty area packed full of these things, and each finder is encouraged to fill the bag on the way out.

Cool! If you could just whack "ZALGARIATH - DUBLIN, IRELAND" on the side of the box and lick a few stamps that would be tops! \:D/

....oh wait, you meant for Nork eh? hahaha
