but once I click on one cache to view details I am unable (or don't know how) to get back to the list.
Are you accessing http://mobile.geocaching.com.au (the old text based site) or http://geocaching.com.au/mobile ??
We are testing the latter, and it's virtually impossible that it's showing GC caches.........and the list never goes away...

Hi CraigRat,
It was the very first time I have used the scanner so wasn't quite sure what I was supposed to do. However I have now opened it in Safari and it shows me GCA caches nearby. :D Does that always work even if I move locations it will show me the nearby GCA caches :?: BRILLIANT if that's what it does. I have been really trying to work out how to get them on my phone. =D>

Cheers to the developer.

I've added the last 10 logs to the listings pages, see if it works for you!

Works for me!

Is anyone using the current functionality to find a cache though?
I can click on the map link which opens the GCA Google Maps but it doesn't show my current postion and formats the icons and links very small so is not ideal.

Is this web page just going to be a useful way to access the cache details for someone with the gpx details already loaded on their separate GPSr, rather than a tool to find the cache?

The new site came in particularly helpful today. I went out to find a couple of gnomes, one of which was quite small and in an area with many possible hiding places. Fortunately, I was able to access the hint and found the cache immediately. Without it, it would have been a DNF for sure. (Thanks CraigRat).

With browser based geolocation it's almost impossible to get a reliable enough fix to use as a navigation tool.
The onluy information the browser can provide back to the site is a single lat/lon pair, nothing usefull like heading etc.
I will show where the device THINKS you are on the map, you'll be surprised how coare the position fix is most of the time. Sometimes not even in the same suburb! (To speed up positional fixed some browsers only use the cell phone tower location, and in country areas they can be kilometeres away!!!!)

You will be able to grab the nearest caches in GPX form on your mobile device to load into a caching/navigation app, also the back end stuff I've written to do this will form part of our API that other app providers will be able to use in dedicated caching/nav apps.

Is there a time frame for the API? I'm tempted to have a go at that if I can find the time.

I know its still a work in progress but can I request the WGS84 Coords be posted on the cache details please, so I can enter in my GPS if I'm in the field.

hey craigrat,

Am I missing something?

I have been using the mobile site to check the latest status of gnomes and stuff! (You know? "Stuff" :) )

I can't seem to find the GA number though - is that on the mobile site or have you left it off?
It would be handy to have the number so I can write it down or note it on my iPhone for later logging / reference.

Will be spending some time tonight trying to get logging to work.

See if you can a) Log in using the login button, and b) click on the Log button on the cache page and tell me if a dialog pops up to allow you to log the cache.............

:D Thanks for quick fix.

On my iPhone I got a "Found it" / "Did not find it" option & ability to write a log. I haven't tried to send it - is it fully functional?
