A missing cache, a fluke discovery, and a help request.
My first ever cache, Playing with Dolphins went missing recently. Assuming the worst, I disabled it, built another cache container, and rehid with a slight move to hopefully prevent another muggling. That was a couple of months ago.
Today, I recieved a message via GC.com telling me the original container has been found, on an island on the other side of the harbour, probably at least 10km away. My guess is the cache was found, and tossed into the harbour by a muggle. So now, I have to organise an expedition to recover the cache. I have the coordinates, but they are given as northings and eastings. Its a long time since I have played with them, and have forgotten how to convert them. So, can someone assist me. The info given is easting: 317862 northing:7367805 and the fact its on Curtis Island, off Gladstone Qld, so its should be somewhere like S23 xx.xxx E 151xx.xxx
Cheers

Grab your GPSr, change the position format to UTM, then enter the details in a WP....the extra information left out of the full coordinates will become apparent when entering it.
You can even mark a temporary WP near Curtis Island, then edit the coords to suit this information....should not be far off and will be easy to see any mistakes.
Hope that helps,
mm

Original container, complete and intact, including travel bug, grabbed today from Curtis Island, and brought back home.
The TB log for the find.

You could have left it on the island as a hard find! Then again I suspect a lot of caches your way are probably heading for the Barrier Reef at the moment all by themselves. Hope everyone in Bundy and Rocky and surrounding areas is OK and not too wet.

I know that at least one of mine is gone "Polar Experience" it was at least 1.5 meters under water, just waiting now for the rest of the water to disappear and the ground to dry out a bit more so I can check on a few others. I estimate that I will have 5 or 6 others that are either missing or have had water through them. Thankfully we were one of the lucky one and did not get water through our house, but there are some who have a long painful job in-front of them.
