1.36 minutes per cache.....sounds like fun :)
From this GC thread:
On Sept 27th, 2010 we took a trip out to the Alien Highway in Nevada.
Our goal was to find all 1021 ET geocaches in 24 hours (they are numbered E.T. #001 thru E.T. #1021).
We only took one vehicle and 4 geocachers.
We only drove 165 miles between 2 gas stations, yet we had to add 10 gallons of gas (we brought it with us)
Final tally: 1157 geocache finds in 24 hours
mm

I saw that in my FB friends list. I thought Jim was joking, then I checked his stats.

My initial thoughts is "why bother". But as long as they enjoyed themselves. It's not something I would ever want to do.
I'm happy with the 20 so far this month, that's way above my usual average of 1.1 per day. Helped by an early finish in Newcastle on Friday, then some breaks in the consistent rain we have had over the weekend.

Yeah, i guess as long as they enjoyed themselves, good luck. Couldnt think of anything worse than arranging to complete this challenge in 24 hours.Richary wrote:My initial thoughts is "why bother". But as long as they enjoyed themselves. It's not something I would ever want to do.
.
But, if it was to create their own personal record for finds in 24 hours -then so be.
Anyone who has ever been to Nevada knows this is no place of highways lined by forests etc. Its basically deserts and rocks and lots of em. I can only picture a micro every 300- 600m placed under a rock continually.
Surely after the first 50 ,the novelty would wear off and it became a boring task after that.
Lets hope the long one planned here doesn't eventuate. We have some brilliant minds around the country that can outdo the Americans at great cache ideas better than that !

When I get bored with geocaching I might give it a go.

I think i'd lose interest in the challenge after the 3rd one
Lucky person sitting in the vehicle for 24 hours @ 0-30 km/hr keeping the beast from overheating.
Glad they had fun, just not my cup of tea.
