Re: Report GCA Site issues here
Over the last few weeks I have been tracking down a difference in the finds for GC caches shown here and on GC itself. A number of times I have loaded a my finds gpx from GC but it has never fixed the finds count. I finally printed out the finds from both sites and compared each so tracked down a log on 25/1/2010 that was originally a type of 'note' that was later made a 'find' after it had already come over to GCA. It appears that the GPX import doesn't change the type of log if the log is already in the GCA. I have now changed the log type in GCA so the find count is now correct.
Is this something that needs to be looked at.

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
We don't change log types via the imports as it is open to abuse (I could inject all your finds with DNF's for example)Chwiliwr wrote: Is this something that needs to be looked at.
I can't see us changing it at this stage as it doesn't effect many logs, but we'll keep it in mind.
Re: Report GCA Site issues here
Is there any particular reason why the google map links from a cache page can't/shouldn't be made to open in a new window/tab? (Yes, I could right click (even on a Mac! ), but it'd be nice (IMHO) if it did so automagically. Please pretty please?

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
50% want it, 50% don't want it.
I hate, hate, hate things that do that without my specifically requesting it.
However, there may be an option to do the following.
Click on the map (or the Google Maps link on the RHS) and it opens in the same window.
Click on a new link which specifically states it will open in a new window and it will open in a new window.
That way the choice can be yours.
I'll also add the "new window" option to the Google Maps pop up bubble.
I'm about 80% of the way through building a new development box (sorry Win7 CraigRat) but I should be able to get this done by the end of the weekend.

Me too. So, so , so much.caughtatwork wrote:50% want it, 50% don't want it.

Choice. YES! ...but can it be "new tab" as well as/instead of "new window".caughtatwork wrote:However, there may be an option to do the following.

Mind you, I currently open most things in new tab anyway, and will continue to do it manually if it isn't available as standard... as that is so much part of my normally browsing behaviour it is almost automatic.
Win 7 isn't as bad as I thought it would be - I've resisted it at home, but had no choice at work, and I quite like it (but don't tell anyone)caughtatwork wrote:I'm about 80% of the way through building a new development box (sorry Win7 CraigRat) but I should be able to get this done by the end of the weekend.
Re: Report GCA Site issues here
Cool. Thank you. ( You realise that you guys are building terribly high expectations among gca users. There's going to be a real risk of rioting in the streets if there's no response within 5 minutes of our original posts!)
(I too hate it when things do something without me specifically requesting it ... unless it is something that's better than what I specifically requested! )

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
mmm defect or change request. What is the severity? How many users impacted? Better run it past the Business Impact Forum, escalate to the senior leadership group, the triage team, the design team, approval from architecture forum, better get specs written up, efix or release, unit test evidence, peer review, promote for product test, performance test, raise Infra, various requests to promote code, raise request for change, talk to the scheduler for deployment windows, outage, technical deployment verification, business deployment verification
or maybe just nick in and do it.

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
Sounds like a Threat & Risk Assessment coming up to identify all the risks of the new changes.
Privacy Impact Assessment as well to make sure the User records are safe.
Did Mr Bunny say that he works in this field and his rates are reasonable..... Will work for shiny things

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
When trying to figure out an issue with the PQ date ranges for SA, I imported a PQ and noticed that when it hit an Announcement log, it treated it as an unknown type.
Since it's only been implemented recently on GC, I guess that it may not have been added here yet!

What the hell is an announcement type?
God, I wish they would keep their bloody schema up to friggen' date.
