Whos got a caching pen ?
Whos got a caching pen ?
Just watched a show on Fisher space pens and the idea of writing on wet paper makes me want one (plus it is a space pen !!!)

Got me thinking what you use as a cache pen (carry with you when caching) and what would be your ideal pen ?
I myself have a four color pen from Aldi. It is good for doing multi caches with lots of notes but it does not write well on all types of paper.
I also have a Gel pen that writes well on wet paper.
Right now I think my ideal pen would be a fisher Trekker pen. Having the lanyard would be handy.

Re: Whos got a caching pen ?
My pen (of last resort) after I have lost the 2 pencils that I normally carry - either misplaced or have exited my pockets without permission - is the one hidden within my 3-in1 Palm PDA stylus. This fine tipped biro has saved the day for me on many occasions.

Re: Whos got a caching pen ?
I have powertank. I just called it a Gel pen because that is all I know it as. Space pen has that something extra you don't get from a plastic pen.

The powertank does everthing the space pen does (they are both pressurised) and at a lot less money it's a no brainer.covert wrote:I have powertank. I just called it a Gel pen because that is all I know it as. Space pen has that something extra you don't get from a plastic pen.

Go the powertank, they have never let me down. I purchased a bulk lot of 10 on ebay for a great price.

Plastic Supermarket torch's are the same.
I know which one I would leave in a cache and which one I would like to have for life.
I like the pen rhinogeo has
Inka travel pens look like a nice key chain pen. Good for the spare pen you always have. Same length as a car key.
Re: Whos got a caching pen ?
Although I agree that there is nothing like a good quality pen, but at the rate I loose pens, I would rather loose a $5 plastic pen than a expensive pen.
To date I have lost about 5 jetstream pens, at about $6 each, so these days I just use whatever pen I have in the car or bag.

I like the weight of metal pens and have an "astronaut" model of the Fisher Space pen.
To be honest..... not worth the money! If you are someone who likes to wave around an expensive watch, flash notes in your wallet and let people know how much your car cost you then go for it. But otherwise spending over $100 bucks on a pen is just stupid.

Re: Whos got a caching pen ?
I have a very nice blue gel pen.... I keep it somewhere in Ballarat.
Re: Whos got a caching pen ?
That Astronaut looks like a nice pen. Not something you would want to risk loosing out caching but dam it looks sweet.
Re: Whos got a caching pen ?
It's alright. If you want it for caching you would probably be better with one of the Bullet ones.covert wrote:That Astronaut looks like a nice pen.
Re: Whos got a caching pen ?
Cool for night caching. I bet the ball point is useless. Might even been handy for one of my caches in the works....

I had the Fisher trekker in mind for a cache pen. The Bullet is a classic and would be nice as a work pen.Damo. wrote:It's alright. If you want it for caching you would probably be better with one of the Bullet ones.
