Re: Sinkholes
A 30m deep hole is a pretty crappy weapon.
Geologists said Tuesday that the circular shape suggested a cave formation underneath, but what exactly caused the sinkhole was still a mystery.
Re: Sinkholes
Hmmm ... still seems very sus to me. God only knows what wierd experiments go on. Not that I know a lot about sinkholes, but the formation just looked way unnatural. I'd like to see some photos of the bottom ... where did all the rubble go? Very weird if you ask me.

Re: Sinkholes
If it's a cave, then it's all at the bottom of the hole.

Think of it like a whirlpool but with solids!
It does look like something out of Doctor Who though!

I love a good conspiracy theory.
But,

Re: Sinkholes
That's obviously my problem ... watching too much science fiction!

Yes, I do too. Too much imagination!
Thanks for the pic. After doing more googling, I didn't realise they were as common as they are. What a fragile world we live in! Very disturbing.

Sorry, I don't know how to "double" quote so to speak on this forum, so apologies for all the separate replies. Yes, I didn't realise the caves extended as far as they do, so makes sense. Just looked really strange on the initial photos.

Re: Sinkholes
There are some pretty amazing underground caverns in that part of the world - but the Crystal Caves of Naica must take some beating!
Re: Sinkholes
Oh My God ... that was totally awesome! I had no idea such a place existed. The preview was fantastic.

Here's a picture with an article in the The Age where you can see the bottom. This report, and another video clip in the same paper, says the sink hole is related to problems with the city sewerage systems.Pandora wrote:Hmmm ... still seems very sus to me. Hmmm. They also suggest it might just be a photo shopped fake.
Re: Sinkholes
That was the first photo I saw ... just looked so unnatural and perfectly shaped from that distance and angle, which is why I was interested, as I didn't really know much about them.
I was only saying to my son the other day, when I commented on an ad on the tv, and he said "mum, you do realise that's not real". I thought, yep, back in my day, everything was real on the tv, you didn't have all the fake pictures you get now. So I guess I just question too much. Reality has changed somewhat from my younger days!
