Please ensure your email address is up to date
We are seeing quite a few bounced emails due to " User unknown" amongst other things.
If you change ISPs or give up your yahoo/hotmail etc address, please update the email address in your profile. Likewise, if you are not getting notification of private messages or Topic Reply Notifications, check that your email address is correct and notify support.

May explain why many people never respond to PMs?
Re: Please ensure your email address is up to date
If they never ever visit the forum as well as changing address, then yes.Yurt wrote:May explain why many people never respond to PMs?
Re: Please ensure your email address is up to date
I sent a PM a few days ago that's still in my Out Box. Is this becasue the email address I was sending it to is not up to date? Or is there some issue with my PM?
Re: Please ensure your email address is up to date
It is because the person you sent it to hasn't read it yet.blossom* wrote:I sent a PM a few days ago that's still in my Out Box. Is this becasue the email address I was sending it to is not up to date? Or is there some issue with my PM?

No I don't think so. I think it's more becasue it hasn't been "Sent"
Or at least that's how i thought it would work. i send it off and it goes to the Out box, then, after a short while, GCA does it's rounds and picks it up and sends it. Then it ends up in my Sent box.
???

A PM via the forums is not emailed (a notification that you have sent it DOES get emailed but is a separate thing)
The PM will remain in your outbox until the recipient reads it.

I have a message like that too, sitting in my outbox.. I know the person I sent it to has been in the forums since sending it though. They made another post in their thread!

Re: Please ensure your email address is up to date
It does not mean they have read the PM
PM's are shown to you as a Pop up notification when you log in. Some browsers and pop up blockers stop this from happening.

Thanks very much for the explanation CraigRat. Damo was right too, maybe he can help you with more than just his current tasks - he seems to know a lot of useful GCA stuff

Re: Please ensure your email address is up to date
I guess it becomes a bit difficult to log on when you have lost your email account for whatever reason.
I was looking for a spot where I can help out the occasional cachers Wingham Pathfinders, as they used to be called, a youth group similar Boy Scouts, that 'kicked off' in 2007, and had a few finds in 2007 and 2008, mostly on Groundspeak, but some logged through GCA as well.
I was their main leader in 2007, but due to a broken foot in 2008 pulled out for that year.
I know that I have lost most of my many email accounts due to going with another internet provider, and I can only assume that I had used one of the subsidiary accounts, as from memory you can't have two cachers on the same email account. (My sons had to open their own email accounts I remember)
The problem is further complicated in that in 2009 the group chose to change their name to Manning Area Pathfinders (or MAP's on Groundspeak).
Obviously we didn't use GCA much in 2007, just three caches logged, but I'm wondering if there would be a way to combine Wingham Pathfinders with the newer version, being MAP's. Can't remember their GCA password, but their finds prior to 2009 from GC have been transferred to the MAP's 'account.
I don't believe that MAP's have registered at this stage, but their email is map_s@y7mail.com and I would like to get some of this cleared up before I go on holidays.
Yours sincerely
