For the pedants amongst us ...
I came across a great blog post for those of us that need to count to ten and resist the urge to correct bad spelling and grammar when encountered on the interweb or via social media

Pedantry can also be an indication of certain developmental disorders. In particular those with high-functioning autism, often use pedantic speech.
Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder is also in part characterized by a form of pedantry that is overly concerned with following rules, procedures and practices. Sometimes the rules that OCPD sufferers obsessively follow are of their own devising, or are corruptions or re-interpretations of actual rules.

Self diagnosis via wikis can be a dangerous thing but if you had to look it up you're probably not in in dangerdarth trader wrote:from wiki:

... and you wouldn't find an obsessive-compulsive amongst the caching community, would you?
Re: For the pedants amongst us ...
Cute blog. I'm no pedant, but I am easily annoyed. I cannot stand the gratuitous apostrophe: "three cache's" in lieu of "three caches".
Re: For the pedants amongst us ...
it really annoys me alot to.

Re: For the pedants amongst us ...
Thanks for pointing this topic out to me Damo.
As an editor I cannot help but see the typos and grammatical errors leap out at me on the page. It's my job and I can't switch it off that easily. It's like seeing a flat tyre on a car that is doing 130 km/h on the M4. It stands out.
Having said that, I have employed similar coping mechanisms to those mentioned on the blog. Another technique I use is to visualise the person typing the message - i.e. stand in their shoes.
I imagine the person has been drinking all night and can't see the keyboard clearly. For others, I imagine they are using a busted keyboard with no mouse or backspace. Then there is those people's that me think r just plane stoopid!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, when it comes to forum posts I see past most mistakes, unless it changes the meaning or I can't understand what the hell you're on about.

**OCD kickes in**
Sorry, it's not just Grammar or lack thereof that bugs me.
Spelling is a big issue that people have too.
There - is over there, not here
Their - not yours
They're - Abbreviation of 'They are'
Here - not there
Hear - to absorb sound with your ears
I constantly see these words, (and many others) used incorrectly and in the wrong context and it can drive me wild!
Major Laughs to the ALOT!!
I am kinda OCD too though, I make sure all my cans face the same way in the pantry and peg my Clothes on the line with 4 of the same colour peg at a time! I used to be worse but I have managed to control myself!
