Hello everyone, i have recently been reading about "Unlocking" gps units,, to enable them to have other applications loaded,, extra skins etc.(this also gives access to the units "Windows CE" programs..
I am a bit basic when it comes to computers n things, i was wondering if anyone could perhaps explain it a little simpler for me!!!
The gps i use is a "Mio c720t", which has an sd card slot as well..
Is this something that could be done to the gps unit in question??
Thanks all,,, Mada1234.......
GPS unlocking question.
Re: GPS unlocking question.
Did a quick search and found the following for you...

I don't have a Mio myself and haven't tried anything on that particular page, so I can't vouch for it, but the instructions looked pretty simple.
Have fun

Re: GPS unlocking question.
Hello, I have Mio 720 and have "unlocked" it for the main purpose of running OziExplorerCE. Unlocking simply requires copying some programs to an sd card and starting unit. If you remove the SD card the unit returns to "normal". You have two options - Miopocket or Miopocket lite. I use the lite version as it doesnt have a heap of little utilities I dont need.

Re: GPS unlocking question.
Well,, it works!!!
I can start up windows ce on my mio with the sd card inserted,, or when the sd card is removed and mio restarted, it starts up on normal old "mio map"
Thats one funky program!!, it has adobe reader too,, so when i work it out a little better ill be able to go caching "paperless".
I would never of thought a gps could do that too!!!
Im going to get another sd card and try out the "lite" version next.....
Thanks all!
