phpbb3 no longer allows HTML formatting.
Apparently it was deemed a "security risk" and so was all stripped out.
This means old posts that have been formatted with HTML will now show up the raw HTML.
If you want to go back and fix them, you should be able to edit your post.
I'd just leave them alone and move ahead with the new software.

The MediaWiki is a right royal pain the bum to implement. We have the code and the content, we just haven't been able to get it working yet.

We were also having problems with http://mobile.geocaching.com.au/ yesterday, but I see that CraigRat has waved his magical wand of goodliness and that's now up.

So at the moment the wiki is kind of dead, but we are resurrecting it as fast as we can.

Guys,

I just realised how I can "watch" a topic and have had my first email come through. I was wondering if the format is supposed to look like this, it looks a bit raw.

While looking at new posts using the "View new posts" link, the "Mark forums read" link at top right doesn't work correctly. It returns you to the "Board index" page, but doesn't mark the forums as read - you need to click the "Mark forums read" link a second time.

With the new phpbb3 forum functionality, the ability to mark forums read has changed based on cmmunity feedback (not our community, the phpbb community).

In the old versions, you globally marked the forums as read. i.e. Every forum was marked read.

The community wanted the ability mark a "particular" forum read.

If you are the board index http://forum.geocaching.com.au/index.php marking the forums read will mark ALL forums read.

If you are in a particular forum http://forum.geocaching.com.au/viewforum.php?f=1 marking the forums read ONLY marks THAT forums read.

If you are on a SEARCH page, you are not in ANY forum, so the links refreshes to the same page.

Weird, but understandable. It allows more granularity in determining what you want done.

Hope that helps.

It would seem that sometimes the "View New Posts" link works and at other times it does not. Quite often when I select this link I get a no result found, but If I got to the Board Index I find multipule orange dots indicating new posts that I have not read. This morning for example, I had a couple of email for topics that I was watching, so I went to "View New Posts" and got nothing, opened the index and found about ten new posts, still marked with orange dots :?: :?:

View New Posts is based on the time you last visited the forums.
If you visit the main website the time you last visited the site is updated.
If you then come back to the forums, it looks for threads that were updated after that time.
It's not a bug, but it is annoying. I doubt there's much we can do about it which I believe is why the last50 was introduced.

I'm just using the same "newposts" bookmarked toolbar link as on the previous forum software and haven't noticed it working any differently than before... http://forum.geocaching.com.au/search.p ... d=newposts
But I usually use that to come to the forum and access the main site from the logo at the top.

I think there is a problem with the daily emails from GCA, the last 3 days the email has been the same:

Geocaching Australia WA Cache Update
Friday 17th July 2009

New Caches:
=========================================================
No New Caches

But there have been at least 20 new caches published in the last 3 days, and these are shown on the GCA website in the WA dashboard view, they are just not coming through in the daily email updates.
