Engraved Waypoint Markers

I have seen some Waypoints with a metal tag and the coords of the next waypoint are neatly engraved upon it.

<br><br>Its really easy to do, and as previously stated punches are cheap at auto stores.

<br><br>In terms of ACT, I recently used this for a multi for the second set of coords and it is seeming to work quite well. Water resistant and metal tags with random numbers blend in well I only have a number set, but for caching thats all you really need.

Thanks, where does get the actual metal tags from. I found my first go at Bunnings wasn't too hot, they had some brackets that I used which were reasonably priced but the tags were something like $8 a pop.

Well if the fences around home are made of the right stuff AND you have a pair of tin snips then look no further
I wouldn't start cutting holes in the house roof though

I bought a strip of aluminium about 3mm thick from Bunnings a while back that would work. Not a disc but with a tinsnips you could cut it close. Not sure where to buy the round tags from, might check with the electrical wholesaler guys when I am back in Sydney as they would probably know.

I managed to get some from our friendly local locksmith. They looked a little like the engraved round dog tags you can get.
They were pretty cheap at the time too - around $5.00 for 3 and they guy stamped what I need on them as well.

Is that the same friendly locksmith who attempts people's caches in the middle of the night, realises the owner has stuffed up the coordinates when stamping and then corrects their errors for free? Meanwhile the owner of the cache drives home and leaves the locksmith bogged and with no one to help him?

Some people take their friendly locksmiths for granted and that's a real shame.

One place to try is nurseries. They use them for labling plants and you can get packets of aluminium (spelling?) tags for a reasonable price.

Agent Basil, if you venture across to NSW and visit Queanbeyan the main nursery near the river sells them (at least last time I went there).

The aluminium plant tags are very soft and you may loose the imprinted numbers over time. Aluminium floor trimming works well, you can buy them in lengths at bunnings.

The metal foil inside the top of milo and coffe tins is good for this as well, it can even be written on with a ballpoint to leave the impression. Cut with an old pair of scissors and be careful of the edges.
