I've come across snakes several times while geocaching and never thought of them as a problem (as long as you treat them with due respect)
I've never come across primates while caching though in the past I've found that whilst in 'monkey country' if you play the 'dominant male' role they tend to stay away

Snakes! Hate the little critters! Came across one a while ago while out caching (Peaceful River Walk) and logged a DNF.
Also found one while caching in South Africa with my 10y.o. son last year. Neither of us was too happy! Vic Bay View
Haven't yet found any other dangerous creatures, not even a spider!

Aren't we forgetting the old cacher Indiana Jones, who is also afraid of snakes, and took a statue and left sand, doesn't seem like a fair swap to me!!
Can't say I've been put off a cache due to snakes, even if the other half did say she saw one, but I didn't. I avoided a cache to avoid upsetting kangaroos that were around.
