Just only yesterday I was pondering the fact that it would almost be time to have another one like RMDH. I was going to post a question to the effect of when it would occur. Get home from night shift this morning and here it is. Looking forward to it.

We were pondering the next comp yesterday too, as we were walking up a steep hill to a 4/4.5, and wondering whether we should be "saving" tricky caches for a potential competition. Get home, and ta-daa! Annoucement of new competiton!
Looking forward to it.

Just been looking at my unfound list,

Any Vic cachers want to place some terrain 5 caches out there
especially if difficulty rating is above 3 :D :D :D

I am desperately short of hard caches
:( :( :(

Anything involving a long walk /ski would be good

I've got some 5D's but no 5T's.
Maybe y'all need to get together, plan a 5/5* each and let the other hide it.
Then you can go and find it during the game :-)

*Genuine 5/5's only need apply.

http://geocaching.com.au/stats/graphs/a ... ty_terrain
Shows the number of 5/5's hidden in Victoria (not necessarily active though).

My research shows only one active 5/5.

BeDevilled by Derringer.

This could be a tough game to get The Well Rounded Cacher. Might have to get some abseiling gear and head out one day (apart from the fact that I am deathly afraid of heights).

I don't think the Tasmanians have any 5/5s at all (they have less than a handful over and including 4/4); I'm not sure how the other states go. (My interest in Tassie is that it's my second caching home, and I'll be there for some of the period of the game.)

Hence the 3 different levels of Well Rounded Cacher to target.
3/3
4/4 and
5/5

Thanks for the quick mention in the last GeoTalk. That really got me thinking about ways to make is accessible to more people with the three levels.

Later on in the year I'll give the GeoTalk hotline a call and pimp the game :-)

The same thought went through my mind when I tackled BeDevilled last weekend - a good 5/5 cache wasted ;)

I've got a few ideas, hoping to place one or two that require a bit of sweat to get to. Who knows, I may even find a worthy little corner of the Alps that hasn't been Derringer-ised yet

Not sure how many snowbound caches there will be come 01-Nov-2008 though. We can only hope :D

GSAK Macro

Post by murf » 05 May 08 10:44 pm

For those that like GSAK, I thought i'd share this macro that I setup to look at my nearest available "Well rounded" caches...
http://gsak.net/board/index.php?showtopic=8319

Interestingly, looking at my NSW/ACT/VIC database, the only cache type missing is a 5/4.5.... Anyone want to hide one up my way? :D

bugger, using that macro I've gotta go 581km to a 3.5/4.5 cache :!:

Out of interest, i thought that i remembered there being a stat on the personal cacher pages (somewhere) that showed how many out of the x number of combinations that you have completed so far in your caching life :?:
