GA20000 Competition

GA20000 Competition

As Geocaching Australia players may be aware, we are getting close to our 20,000th hide, i.e. our cache numbered GA20000 will be reached sometime in the next month or two. Of course, this does not include our Trig Point caches, which use the TP number format.

To promote this milestone, we are offering the Geocaching Australia community the opportunity to be the geocacher who gets to hide and publish this landmark cache.

Similar to our GA10000 cache, we are looking for a cache that is worthy of this unique number. To help with your entry, check GA10000 (and GA’s 9999, 9998, 9997 and 9996) as an idea.

(Note that GA's 19996-19999 can also be award to the geocacher awarded GA20000 if the cache chosen as the winner is a multi-cache.)

You will have 150 words to tell us why you should be the geocacher who receives the honour along with the sort of cache you will hide if you win the honour.

The cache may be any physical type and can be located anywhere in Australia.

The GA20000 cache number has already been reserved for this competition.

Rules:

Entries open on Monday 7 December and will close on Sunday 20 December.

The winner will be announced by Thursday 24 December 2020.

All entrants must be Geocaching Australia website members

Entries will be accepted via the entry form. See the entry button on our main page from Monday 7 December.

Each entry must be of 150 words or less

Use the form fields to indicate a state, cache type, container size and approximate location

One submission per geocacher name - the name used for the entry will be the one that is award the honour of hiding GA20000. This will not be transferable.

No editing will be permitted after your entry has been submitted

Cache type must have a physical container (no locationless, virtual or history caches).

As with all geocache hides, any costs associated with the container or placement are at the expenses of the cacher

Geocaching Australia will supply the winner with some "swag" to get the new cache off to a good start (if the container size allows)

The Question:

“Tell us in 150 words or less, why you want to be the geocacher who hides Geocaching Australia’s 20000th cache.”

The entries are in, the judging has been done and the winner of the honour to hide and publish the GA20000 cache is Budgietas from Tasmania. The cache will be a multi cache with 3 preceding caches giving clues to the GZ for GA20000. The location will be around the Hobart area and will be another reason for Geocaching Australia cachers to visit this area.

Congratulations to Budgietas, we look forward to seeing, and visiting these caches. :D :D

Many thanks to those who submitted an entry but unfortunately were not selected as the winner. Just because your entry was not selected does not mean you cannot still hide and published it. If you thought it was a good, no doubt others will as well….so why not head out and published it anyway….
