FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by Bundyrumandcoke » 15 February 08 6:30 am

Finally, after 25 years, 5 months, and 10 days with the one employer, as of 38 minutes ago, I am officially UNEMPLOYED.

Can anyone top that time frame for working for the one employer?

Cheers
Bundy

for a while my top was about 2-3 years, but now its increasing, but I suspect I won't reach that mark before I retire.

I assume from the 'FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!' that this is the good type of unemployment, more often referred to as retirement? :D

Congrats!

Yep. A bike accident forced my retirement 2 years ago after 38 & 1/2 years with the one employer and after a 10 month break I am now back working part time with the same employer in a slightly different job. :)

Nope, not retirement, just a career change. Out with Australia Post, In with Queensland Rail National, driving coal trains. 6 weeks holiday between the 2.

Hope you enjoy that time off before the new job starts, bundyrumandcoke. The reluctant spouse spent over 38 years with his previous employer; I'll have to check the specifics with him.

He seems to be enjoying the change in jobs. He did have a secret dream to retire, but that was never going to happen.

edited to add: 38 years, 5 months

Not even being old enough to compete against these records...I won't..but I've been with same employer for 7 years 5 months now....I could clock up another 25-35 years with them though...so 42 years in the future!?!?!? (in like 2043!)

So if anyone happened to place a cache near a train line up there, there could be a slight technical problem meaning you need to get out and walk around the train to check all is OK?

My brother who sometimes comes caching with us just quit his job after 47 years and 10 months with the same employer, no name changes for the company either. Now, just only a couple of weeks later, he looks 5 years younger. So he can come west on holidays with us and help find a few more caches - many eyes make a cache easier to find (well, that's the theory!). :D :D :D

My dad, who is currently keeping an eye on our cache out west, has been working for the same employer for the past 46 years. (I checked with my mum :D ) M
