After a little bit of searching through the old Porsche archives i finally found a press release saying it will be available in Australia, just a shame a company such as Porsche can't keep their website up to date and include it in their model line up.
The Cayenne Turbo S has the rights to brag about being the most powerful by only a few Kw although it still only does 0-100 in 5.2s compared to the Merc's 5.0s
But from the pictures i think i know which one i would rather be looking at.
and as i said before i am unable to be swayed from the Merc otherwise i could loose my job

How long are low profile road tyres going to last once you leave the bitumen?

I assume here, given the fact I have come in at this stage of the discussion, and couldnt be bothered scrolling back through all the pages, and given the title of this , we are talking about appropriate modes of transport to beat the current "Most finds of the day" record.
Unfortunately, I hardly think someone driving one of the last couple of vehicles will be able to get away with doing any of the "Stealth" caches.

This would also be alright for doing the record but good as a general cache tool also.

Happy caching and drive safely.

Ah yes, but the thread has somewhat gone OT, now they're talking about finding a cache in all mainland states/territories in a 24 hour period.

OK. It looks like I'm the one without a life

It IS theoretically possible to find a cache in every state and mainland territory of Australia in 24 hours using local times. The timetable you can use is as follows and is valid for 10 August, 2006.

- Find cache at Darwin Airport 1.00 am
- Flight DJ 448 from Darwin - leave @ 1.40 am to Brisbane - arrive @ 5.50 am. Find cache at Brisbane Airport.
- Flight DJ 204 from Brisbane - leave @ 6.30 am to Sydney - arrive @ 8.00 am. NO CACHE FIND YET
- Flight DJ 620 from Sydney - leave @ 8.45 am to Hobart - arrive @ 10.35 am. Find cache at Hobart Airport.
- Flight JQ 24 from Hobart - leave @ 11.05 to Melbourne - arrive @ 12.15 pm. Find cache at Melbourne airport
- Flight QF 812 from Melbourne - leave @ 12.45 pm to Canberra - arrive @ 1.50 pm. Find Canberra cache (In plane view).
- Flight QF 1426 from Canberra - leave @ 2.30 pm to Sydney - arrive @ 3.20 pm. Find cache (TB connector).
- Flight QF 765 from Sydney - leave @ 4.20 pm to Adelaide - arrive @ 6.05 pm. Find cache near Adelaide Airport.
- Flight QF 599 from Adelaide - leave @ 7.50 pm to Perth - arrive @ 9.45 pm. You have a few hours to find a Perth cache.

As stated before it is possible but you will require
1) Short term transport at some airports ready to go.
2) Someone to book your flights at some airports.
3) $1783.00 plus booking fees to fly to this timetable.
4) (and the hardest) the planes to either all be on time or land early. HA!
For those willing, rich and stupid enough - Good Luck
Having just come back from a trip east I know that you can do 4 states in one 24 hour period without too much effort.
Started in WA just before catching a plane to Adelaide then drove through the NW tip of Victoria into NSW.
