GeoJo and I managed 16 in a day last June ... in the Dandenongs near Melbourne. Mind you, we did have the luxury of a chauffeur ... certainly made the day much easier!! Had to keep good notes on what was taken and left, everything became a blur that night when I sat down to log all the finds.

I never do more than 3, 4 max a day... I see Caching as an addition to a trip, not the main reason...
besides MrsT starts nagging after the 3rd one ;)

We sometimes take a fair few printed cache pages with us and play as long as we want to on the day. We might tackle a certain area and do three or four but we often get distracted by the beauty or general interest of the area and spend some quality time looking around the area.
Sometimes we get stuck on finding one and this can soon sap half an hour away. We tackle the multis along with the traditional, so that can also whittle away the time.
Generally by four or so hours one Rabbit or another has had enough so that's it for the day. The most we have done is seven but I wouldn't mind setting aside one day for a full dusk till dawn attack just for the fun. Our team would probably be only 2 rather than the usual 6 if we did though.

A lot of factors can influence how successful a days caching can be. In the past few months with all factors in my favour I've bagged 10 on one day, 9 and then 7 last Friday......

It all comes down to planning, star rating, multi or traditional etc etc

I just did 10 caches today in 6 hours 10 minutes. I could have done another 6 if I managed to get out of bed before noon and get my butt into gear.

Over here in Florida I went out with some local cachers, and I logged 14 in 2¼ hours! (Does that tell you something about cache saturation over here? Most of them were log-only micros.)

Last Monday, I spent most of the day with another local cacher, and managed to log 32, and 3 DNFs.

Cheers,

Interesting, that this post brought our previous log from April last year back up. How we have changed since then  .

Berwick is starting to over populate with caches, and more are coming out every 3rd week. Like 5 in a row. Like I said one day there will be 40 caches in berwick alone. Caches that are only 300 metres apart and most are easy finds.

my son (Ash-Dash) has expressed his interest in the most caches found in Australia in a 24hr period. does anyone know who holds the current record, and how many it was.

I have already told him he isn't allowed to go for the world record.

thanks

On the day of the election, my wife was working at a polling booth. So I figured I'd go and do some. I planned 24 caches the day before (on paper before I had a PDA) and managed to log 18 of them. That was between about 08:15 and 18:00. I'm not sure of the distance, but it was basically a big loop around the Adelaide hills.

OK here's a couple of little challenges

Challenge #1, What is the shortest time for a cacher to find a cache in every state of Australia.

Challenge #2, What is the greatest number of states that a cacher can find physical caches in a 24 hour period.

A pity the missus is making me drive to melbourne a full 24 hours plus before we are due to board the big boat for the bass straight crossing, BB... otherwise I would say four by driving.... NSW,ACT,Vic and Tas...
