It must be my turn to say thank you now. I had a blast in Australia for the trip, not just the raid, but also the caches in Melbourne, along the Great Ocean Road, Mt Gambier, Adelaide, the road to the Grampians, Ballarat and Melbourne again. For once it was great to be travelling with geocachers that weren't too concerned if someone said - shall we stop for the next cache? 
Can I recommend that if any Australians ever feel like setting a record in New Zealand, that Christchurch would be a good city to try, and unsurprisingly it is very similar to Adelaide (and sister city of course).
The raid itself was also fantastic fun. A shaky start but we soon got into a rhythm after 5-10 caches.
What I enjoyed most was the level of teamwork that was required. This was entirely unlike any other form of geocaching I've been involved in. A lot of planning and co-ordination was required. On the day I was nearly always first out of the van and last in. Being a scout meant I got plenty of quick finds. But it meant I also had to open the door and shut it a good 200+ times! I also had to check that we were all in - I only stuffed up once but someone else spotted the empty seat before we drove off.
I think that 220-250 could well be reachable. Our biggest problem was that we only had about 200 caches planned, and we thought we'd be lucky to reach it. As we checked our rate through the day we realised that we would in fact get close. The next team that has a go probably needs to plan for 250-300 caches!
It was also great having Ian as a driver - even if only because he used to live in Christchurch and it was good to catch up with him again!
The social event the following day was also fun to meet up with a number of Adelaide cachers - its always great to meet more cachers. And of course the accidental meeting with shonkylogic that evening.
Of course, thanks must go to everyone that placed caches that we found on our trip. Without you it wouldn't have been possible.
The daunting part for me is that I still need to sit down and log 370+ finds from the trip, as well as a few DNFs... and, yes, the nudie cache...

Thanks. I'm surprised that our record still holds, as we all finished believing that we could have done an additional 15 or 20 caches if we'd planned out more caches for the day (we ran out of planned caches as we didn't expect to be as successful as we were and so had to switch to "find nearest" for the final few hours of the record attempt.
