Caching prevention

Post by chatmanais » 26 November 07 3:14 pm

Thought it might be interesting to see what prevents others from caching, eg busy with work, broken down car etc.

Personally i have been rather annoyed at not being able to cache on the weekends for the last few weeks due to a hamstring tear, had me walking silly and not able to cache for 2 weekends... annoying.

Any tales or reasons... or excuses why you couldnt go caching but wanted to.

Happy complaining

The last two weekends of putting up christmas lights on the house and a good deal of gardening.

Next weekend will be replacing the pool chlorinator :-(

I might have to call in a sickie :-)

Distance to nearest unfound cache :(

Although my employer paid for me to fly to Adelaide Saturday :) , but it was a case of straight off the plane , into a taxi to the depot and drive a truck home with no time for 'detours' along the way :(

Moving slowed me up, too busy getting things unpacked in the new place and sorted out. Luckily that all finished the weekend before last so I had a couple of good days this weekend catching up on various Sydney ones.

What slowed me up on Sunday was deciding to go up towards Barrenjoey. Once I got more than 30km from home the caches stopped appearing in the GPSr so had to manually add them. Shows that my 480 closest unfound (not including mysteries) only gets me a 30km radius from home. Will have to remember that one next time I do an upload before a trip!

Hopefully Christmas will be a good time to get some serious numbers, the office shuts down for a week or two, but I will be on call in case of service calls which are few and far between. As long as I am not more than a couple of hours from Chatswood I am free to be wherever I want as long as it is in mobile range. Better still, I will be getting paid as though I am in the office. I can see a few caching runs around Sydney happening that week, in between trips to the beach if the weather is kind.

Major bushfiires, storms, and floods have all stopped me on various occasions! I'm thinking of going to the western district of Victoria to do, among other things, maccamob's Vulcan series. They are based around volcanoes but I don't want to tempt fate!......

I`d have to say distance, and a ever an ever increasing disinterest from the other half, but mainly distance and the price of fuel to get anywhere. I only have 1 left in town here but I know where it is and am not that interested in "finding" it, but the next closest one is 46km away. A near 100km round trip to find 1 cache is a bit much :(
